What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

By the way, it took one pass per side on a worn 120 grit belt to go from splintering wood on the way through, to clean drill holes. Thanks Bill Richardson, if you’re out there get in touch, I’d love to catch up.

I met him while we both worked for Labor Ready working in the EG Gray building on solar panels for the Lily Lake road solar farm. He told me about his house in the country with a wood stove and stuff and I told him I was jealous and could never see myself making that happen. He was forty five when I met him. He told me he thought I was smart (he’d tried to teach multiple other kids how to sharpen the drills but nobody could make it work: he almost refused to teach me, but I insisted). He said “you’re smart, by the time your my age if you want a house in the country with a wood stove, you’ll have it.

Fast forward and aside for the fact I don’t own the house, I do live in the very situation I was jealous of. And a couple years sooner than his prediction!

I should add none of it would have happened without the kindness of my good friend Chris and his in laws who have provided me with a place to work and live both very affordably, and you my friends who have generously supported my humble work these past five years.

From the bottom of my swarf bucket, thank you!
