What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

And remeber we keep it decent around here so don’t even think of guessing something inappropriate
 
I just assembled possibly the coolest handle idea I’ve had yet… but because our buddy NorcalAF wants it to be a surprise, it’s another

I cut nearly two dozen individual pieces including a Raffir Moonglow Uranium scale right in half.

Then arranged them so the glow in the dark Raffir acts as liners directly underneath some thin jade G10. All that is pretty thin so it goes on top of black canvas micarta as the base liner.

Between the jade there’s an inlay of what I have left of Fixall’s cool black shadowlands burl Micarta sandwiched between Fat carbon dark matter gold marbled carbon fiber, more Raffir for spacers, and a little black G10 for good measure (since I already had some Raffir glued to black G10 from a previous build, I just had to flatten it out, cut it into four, and square the edges).

The scales are curing now and I’m going home to make fish and chips.

Couple wakizashis up as well. Going to a pair of pals who will be getting matching handles. They told me to come up with something special.

So I’m very excited to be using Bolivian rosewood for the first time, and combining it with, brass metallic GripX, Fat carbon dark matter gold marbled carbon fiber, and black liners and spacers and extra micarta and g10 liners and spacers as well. They’re gonna be so classy and awesome.
