What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Blue terrotuf? looks nice from here.
Is That what it is?
I've been wanting to try it for awhile now....both as a user, and as a maker.

I like using micarta, but don't like the smell of grinding it.
I've heard teroturf is better that way

Good morning my friends!

Is That what it is?
I've been wanting to try it for awhile now....both as a user, and as a maker.

I like using micarta, but don't like the smell of grinding it.
I've heard teroturf is better that way

Crag, I have two pairs of Terotuf scales to send you, one blue and one yellow. I personally am not a fan of how difficult teroruf is to clean, but aside from that it is truly a fantastic handle material. And yes, the stuff smells, of all things, like FRUIT when grinding!

It's a nice powder blue/sky blue color - is this Chef headed your way?

I made another blue canvas Micarta knife for you instead. It's in last week's batch, the 4.5" bladed trailing point. If you're interested. I won't post it up until I know if you want it. I ground it nice and thin for you, of course. :)

So here they are. Now I'm going to give them a wash at the kitchen sink, then hone and strop to make sure we're paper slicing, take some pics, post up a sales thread, and then it's time to start a batch for Good Knife Co.

Not a lot of progress on GKC today after all, just handle material cut and allocated.

But after GKC will be handle creation playtime so I actually spent several hours sorting my handle material investments, like with like. Also helpful because I need to be available for an important phone consultation with MagnaCut customer número uno to allocate materials to his dozen knives.

Shop is organized and I'm ready to get back on GKC tomorrow with an R&D knife parallel build and maybe finish the ring tanto as well. And possibly a secret knife too. shhh

Or bartered as in the case of some 20 lb of green frogblanks wood a year ago. I've used quite a bit of it and it looks and feels really nice at 220 and 400 grit with mineral oil.

Here a box of some given, some bought and some bartered wood. I will use some from each category for the secret knife.
