Just because I'm a curious individual...

Posters of the Axe, Tomahawk, and Hatchet Forum, what is the story/meaning behind your screen name? Break it down for us.

Here's mine:

Memphis is a nickname I've had since I was a kid, courtesy of my dad who is one of those big nickname users. The 3 in there? No good reason, just to mix it up, I guess. That's all.

Matt

Mine is two Norwegian words. Norwegian because its where my family is from.

Given there is no words for a bush knife or woods knife, I had to literal translate the two. Skog, meaning forest, and Kniv, meaning knife. Easiest way I could do it. A variation also could have been SkogsKniv

Pokesalad is a good eatin southern green served with scrambled eggs. I was just looking for something as country as I am and pokesalad seemed to fit. There is usually a grammar nazi around so just for the record, yes I know it is poke sallet but it's my damn nickname!

ha! thats great pokesalad... as i've said before, i'm originally from AL. and yes, i do LOVE me some pokesalad greens... my great grandmother use to make me up a batch anytime i would ask (which was often). i still love greens. i grow and can mustard greens here every summer... and sometimes family from AL will send me some greens that they have canned.

anyway, back to the OP; i use bearhunter because i enjoy hunting big game of all sorts and bear is one of them... so i figured 'bearhunter' would be a bit unique.

Edwood. I was participating in an executive protection-anti terrorism type training program in California. Part of the exercise was planning and scouting out the possible vehicle routes we would move our VIP trough, training to identify possible ambush points etc. We had to film the vehicle routes we went on and then in a class room play the video to the instructors and explain what we identified as possible threats on the rout.

Well I played the video and to my surprise a bug was standing in front of the camera on the dash board all the time I was recording. :o

The instructors said that I was making a bad B-Movie like Ed Wood. The name stuck, it has been 5 years and still every time I see does guys they call me Ed wood. The number is just the one that has brought me the most luck.

The first forum I joined was a heavy equipment forum. I was looking for advice on how to make trails with my mini excavator so I just called myself trailmaker. I just keep using the same screen name to keep it simple.

I read through a Native American book on animal totems. The fox has many characteristics that I share.
Once I was watching the Sun set on a rocky ridge in KY. As it was getting dark, a fox walked in front of me. It was on the step down from me, and only 10 feet away, and it never saw me there. That's the closest I've ever been to a living wild animal.

About 20 years ago I was doing quite a bit of stone carving, mainly Zuni fetishes (google it )))) and did a couple of Sacred Pipes (peace pipes). A couple of Elders and Pipe Carriers asked me to make them Pipes for Sweat Lodge. I got the name Pipeman from one of the people I made a Pipe for. I posted this last year I think but here's the last Pipe I made, with a puzzle stem. The stone is Pipestone (catlinite) found only in Minn. Great thread.

Best regards

Robin

Mine is a combo from me being a smooth operator, and being born in 1975.

If I knew you personally, I'd have to ask around to see just how smoothly you really operate!!! ;)

I am sure there would be only one result. Really though mine comes from a time when I needed to get into a ncaa basketball tournament pick em league. It was last minute, and I needed a nick name. I was in a hotel room while out on work, and watching sportscenter, when one of the commentators said some guy was a real operator. Combine that with the first sign of the apocalypse (me being born in 1975) and there you have it. Wish I had a better story.

All my mom's side of the family came from Norway, great grand dad was a sea captain. part of them came from same town as that Eriksen guy did a 100 years ago. so that is the Viking part.

A friend of mine wanted me to play some online battle game kind of game called "TRIBES" 10 or 12 years ago. it was furturistic and I wanted something kinda scientific sounding but old world and OMNIVIKING was spawned. Although I am more of a traveling trading viking than battle crazed 'zerker. It is a good day to die, just not for me.
