What's in an avatar?

Mine is my favorite LP from composer/musician Juan Garcia Esquivel.
“Other Worlds Other Sounds” is in my top ten LP’s of all time in all genres.

I mostly play bass/guitar and a little keyboard and drums and music like this helps me think outside the box a bit.

Steven65 Steven65 , I just saw your knife in this post, but all this time until now I just assumed your avatar was some kind of championship ring. By the way, that knife is outstanding!

I collect Bicycle cards as well as knives, and the back of this deck was always one of my favorites, with a little visual trickery plus coolness factor though maybe it doesn't translate too well on a small screen

Those are my grandson's feet in my boat on a 3 day float trip we took on the Eleven Point River. We only nearly died once, when we went through Mary Decker Shoal and to our surprise found a big snag in our path that was not seen from above the shoal. One of my better boat tales, and surely a memorable one.

Where do I start?

Watch the movie ''THEY LIVE'' then look at my username (not my real name, for OBVIOUS reasons) THEN ask yourself:

''IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WEVE BEEN LIED TO BY THOSE IN AUTHORITY POSITIONS ABOUT ANYTHING? HOWEVER LITTLE?''

I'm from Detroit. I'm a hockey fan. I played hockey (poorly). I'm proud that Steve Yzerman spent his entire 22 year playing career with my Red Wings. Glad he is back as GM now.

Plus, I couldn't think of anything better at the time ...

Mine is an inexpensive but distinctive knife with pretty wood scales from Kubey. I might have taken this picture in 2018. I liked how it came out so I've used it as an avatar in a few places.

That little image that we use to represent ourselves. The image in my avatar is a photograph of the first knife in AEB-L that I made for a good friend of mine. I made that knife maybe about a year and a half before I was laid off and took the plunge into knife making for a living. At first I used it because at the time, it represented the culmination of all the knowledge and skill I had gained in my knife making hobby. I have often thought about changing my avatar to something more recent, but on the other hand, I also like the idea of stability and consistency, and each change of the avatar would seem to betray that to some degree. So for now, I have left it along, although sometimes I wonder if I should update my avatar just one more time with something more directly related to my work, like my maker's mark, or a close up shot of a knife with my mark. I'd love to hear others' opinions on this.

And also, how do you guys and gals choose your avatar? What do you want it to say about you?
Blue Indians from outer space. Saw a movie about it once. This LT. Dan type got it on with a Blue Space Squaw and went native. They plug themselves into animals and plants.

Thanks for sharing. I had to look it up. This was fun.
