What's in the name Jeep? (And the Becker lovers who love them.)

Did a few upgrades to my YJ today.

Before. Stock headlights and blinkers.

After. LED headlights, smoked lens turn signals, and cages for both:

Door strap limiters:

Shifter knob:

Door handle:

New door handle:

Skull shifter knob, and red adjustable door limiters:

Also installed a battery hold down bracket. I like the changes.

I bought some rectangular fog lights to replace the round ones up front. Always thought the round ones looked out of place.
YJs really do need the rectangle lights and yours is looking great!

I like my JL and I love my CJ3B, but I still have a soft spot for YJs. I still have mine, but it's in terrible shape. It needs frame and body work, the brake lines are gone and the fuel pump is shot after sitting for so long. Dad and I were messing around with it this past winter and it fired right up with a squirt of starter fluid. Hopefully I'll get it back on the road one day. It just takes time and money, right?

My 7 year-old is already claiming the 3B so Dad has been joking that the YJ is my little dude's Jeep.

This past weekend's shenanigans.

The Wrangler is a space ship compared to the CJ3B.

"Hmmm.... Here's your problem, Dad..."

I smelled a bit of coolant so the little dude and I decided to check it out later in the afternoon. Looks like hoses are going on the list.

looks like they're trying to compete with the Mahindra Roxor - which is based on the WWII jeep tooling that was left in India 70 years ago and is powered with a 2.5L diesel and manual transmission.

The Roxor definitely looks more old school. The Shortcut looks neo-retro.

Roxor HD has a 1500# payload, a 55 mph governor, and cannot be made street legal in my state.
and I could get a new model year leftover under $19k if I wasn't a semi-frugal SoB

I saw someone take a flipped Roxor with a destroyed body, cut the frame down to the correct wheelbase and drop a CJ2A body down on it from a titled and registered CJ that needed some frame repairs.

It got the naughty thoughts brewing.

that's even better than a "jeep in a crate"

Have you seen the Jeep Shortcut yet?

That's really cool, but there's no way one could drive a vehicle like that in California (where I live at least). You'd come back to a vandalized interior with everything that can be removed gone. I speak from experience. I drove my dad's CJ-5 with an unlockable soft top around when I was 16-17 years old. Once the seats were slashed, twice all the knobs got broken off the dash, and once the stick shift knob was stolen. The vandalism was done for no other reason than some shithead could do it and having access to the inside of some else's car got their rocks off. And that was 40 years ago! Nowadays you'd come back to your car and find a homeless person was living in it or using it as a bathroom or drug den.

I've seen a few older CJs running around Topeka recently -- with and without the rag tops
must be summer!
