whats in your EDC and why ( fun post) part: 1

I admit to carrying too much along with me, but not on my person per se. I keep a Maxped Remora handy in the car loaded with more urban "just in case" items. These include:

- Fenix PD30 flashlight
- Leatherman Fuse
- spare batteries
- SAK Champion Plus
- a few coins (emergency parking money)
- Altoid tin full of floss sticks
- wet wipes
- small tape measure (the wife likes to go antiquing; gotta know if it fits in the car)
- MP3 player
- earbuds
- Silva compass
- ESEE-4
- Benchmade hex tool set
- small roll of paracord
- spare 9mm mag

The Remora also has a back slot that perfectly fits an iPad mini.

The Remora also contains a small Maxped EDC organizer that can be pulled out and attached to the Black Diamond carabiner on my belt. It contains other items that I occasionally like to have with me when I leave the bigger bag in the car (i.e. pen, notepad, chapstick, lighter, ESEE Candiru, Ibuprofin, Zantac, band-aides, etc). It's a good system that works for me.

On my person I always have a Spydie Sage 1, SAK Minichamp or Leatherman Squirt, phone, watch, wallet, comb, keys, Fenix E10 keychain light, something that goes bang, and extra mag.

Today? My pocketses have an HTC One, Keyfob, Leatherman Piranha, Brian Tighe Mini Tighe-Rod, house keys, plus all my diabetes paraphernalia.

Very basic:

spyderco PM2
LED light
emergency survival whistle
cell phone
G-shock watch
leather belt

What exact quark ya got? I have a quark pro QP2L-X burst mode I got from foursevens pre-release for review/testing and I love it, put it threw some heavy use since last June and it's never hiccuped, I run it on an eagletac 17650 1700mHh Li-ion but I have a previous gen QT2L-X mounted on my carbine (in a modified VLTOR scout mount) that I run on CR123's programmed to turbo and strobe.

Also what's the black thing, similar shaped to your trit's, on your keychain?

I have the same Quark Pro you go except it doesn't have the burst mode. It's got the gen 2 emitter and puts out around 400 lumens at full brightness. Thats plenty for me! I use a 17640 AW 1600mAh li-ion cell. I mostly use the light in the low power modes so a full charge last me over a month! It's hands down the best flashlight I've ever owned by a longshot. It's not too expensive either, compared with other high end lights. I love it!

The black wand is my Mobil Speedpass for when I fill up. I've since taken it off my keys and not I leave it in my car. I "try" to not keep so much stuff on my keys. :p

Today is my two year anniversary with my girlfriend and she bought me a Leatherman Wingman so I guess there's no point on carrying my primary knife if I have one on the multitool for utility. So as of today I'm carrying:

Back left pocket: Keychain including three keys and my car key with a spyderco bug and victorinox flash drive (I can now leave behind my Leatherman style ps) also I have a little Lego Anubis as a decorative keychain.

Back right pocket: maxpedition micro wallet

Front right: Leatherman wingman clipped on. iPhone 4

Front left: iPod 4 sometimes replaced by pack of 5 gum, and streamlight microstream clipped on

Left wrist: G-Shock Awgm100

Since I left my primary knife I'm gonna come back to havin my ColdSteel Urban Pal as a neck knife for tactical purposes.

This is going to be a long list. I keep almost everything in a Maxpedition Fat Boy Verspack.

1. Kimber Ultra Carry II
2. Extra magazine for the Kimber
3. Lenslight 123
4. A slightly larger knife (for me), usually a Spyderco Gayle Bradley or Manix 2 sprint.
5. Mini torx driver set.
6. DMT portable sharpening stone.
7. Checkbook.
8. Chewing gum.
9. Credit cards, concealed carry permit, insurance cards, discount cards, etc.
10. Sometimes important papers or notes.
11. Coins.
12. Meds (many types).
13. Noes poring and Aquaphor ointment.
14. Sunglasses or Glasses, depending on what I am wearing at the moment.
15. Eye drops (various types).
16. Bandages of various types.
17. Keys clipped to the outside.
18. iPhone.
19. Benchmade tactical pen, blue anodized titanium.
20. Gerber Suspension multi tool

On my person:
1. EDC knives change depending on what I'm doing or the close I'm wearing. Today it is a Benchmade 940 Gold Class and a 470 Emissary.
2. Cash
3. Driver lisence and credit cards.
4. Some type of divers watch.

Here is an old photo, but similar set up.

Why carry the Kimber in the Maxped rather than a concealed holster? I would be afraid it might be accidentally left behind somewhere or walk off on its own when I'm not watching. Plus the disadvantage of not being able to draw it quickly at any given moment...

Forgot to mention an important part of my EDC; this shark-skin wallet. The thing is practically bullet-proof.

Check "Real Mens Wallets". Good stuff. (No, I'm not affiliated other than as a customer).

I hope you don't climb with that, black diamond carabiners are rated for over 5600# in the major axis

Just out of curiosity, and off topic for a sec, do they make a key chain caribiner for emergencies in case you have to scale down from a window or building?:D

Good question. It is difficult to conceal a weapon on my person, due to my build. The only gun I was ever able to conceal on my person was a Ruger LCP. I live in a dangerous city known for crime and violence, New Orleans. I own a business and almost always leave after dark. I felt under-armed with only the LCP. The Maxpedition has a concealed compartment and is never very far away from me. It's also never left behind. When I go to the range, I practice drawing form the Maxpedition. It works well for me. At first it was awkward. But after training, not anymore.

Metolius Mini is the closest thing I can think of, but it's still bigger than I would want on my keys. Also, carrying the proper rope for the occasion would be preposterously cumbersome. Not to mention the harness  I'd rather take my chances with a window jump, where I live right now there's no buildings over two stories anyways :p

Not at all, I have legit omega pacific gear but I also carry enough paracord and load rated equipment I could get myself and my family down a 100' face / 10story building and do it safely. My emergency / B.O.B. bag stuff isn't luxary, or even the best of its type, its a compromise between getting the job done and light weight/space savings so I can carry the most stuff possible.

If I'm going climbin I'm grabbing my climbing gear, when I'm doing every day stuff I carry my go-bag gear.

That's exactly why I carry the one I do, its not the cheap little typical $2 keychain with zero load holding capability, I use an agricultural load rated one as my keychain just so I have it in any situation.
