Spare socks AND toilet paperOriginally posted by shane45-1911
No spare socks or toilet paper - or - No spare socks FOR toilet paper?

...and a PUR Voyageur purifier, a Nalgene bottle, some granola bars, pair of Steiner 8x30s, flashlight, raingear, firestartin' stuff, map/compass, and a little first aid kit.
That's traveling heavy.
Dayhike in a known area, I'll sling a 2qt canteen over the shoulder, along with the binos (love binos), stick a couple of granola bars in a cargo pocket, some rolled up tp in a ziplock bag in the other, and start walking. KISS

edit: I'll also carry a trash bag sometimes to pick up garbage, and there's a 9'x12' plastic drop cloth in the bottom of my daypack (maybe 1"x3"x8" folded in its package) that could become a shelter, a poncho, a solar still, a sleeping bag...use your imagination.
