I almost always wear suspenders now. They do a better job of keeping my pants up, and I was surprised to find that I've had less lower back pain since I stopped wearing a belt.Good point!
By the time I get a knife, wallet & keys onboard, I look like this….

You know I suppose a small stockman is a good bet too. A large stockman and trapper remind me of winter. But I small one is a good summer bet.Camping, fishing and whittling I generally have a Buck 110 along for the fun. I also carry a 303 cadet for the small stuff. When I was a kid I always had a medium stockman in pocket and summer time had lots of reasons for using it.
Yep I finally went suspenders about 7 years ago and it really helps my back. And I carry more in my pockets now and I don’t notice the weight on a long day. I get some kidding about grandpa wear but I tell them they too will someday gain some wisdom.I almost always wear suspenders now. I can see your point.Confidentially, I love suspenders.
But, if I give in to them, what’s next? Glasses, so I don’t have a pronounced squint. Hearing aids, so I don’t say “EH!” to everybody? I can’t be a curmudgeon if I’m comfortable.![]()
I have been wearing glasses for 35 years, suspenders for 7 and hearing aids for 6 years now. But I’m still a curmudgeon when I wanna be coz I’ve earned it.Confidentially, I love suspenders.

I got a feeling your picture won't age well.Upper right corner. See the rigging knife. Stellite 6-B blade and Titanium Marlinspike. Get out the Hobie Cat.View attachment 1862900
Could always get an ear trumpet. I think they were popular with both "young" and old him or her curmudgeons when I was young.Confidentially, I love suspenders.
