seems to go with the activity, i guess. they never seem to just wear normal stuff. notice the distinct similarity between the siniwali and morris schools of stick arts.

here's a link to the english martial art of morris: the bottom two especially show the deadly stick kata

yeah. check out the homeofpoi website i mentioned at the start... poi forms pretty much cover the range of what two objects held by the hands whirling about the body can manage, and then some - it has fairly unique stuff most martial artists aren't going to bother with - art vs function... there's a really good book on poi, and the general techniques are almost exactly the same for all that "fancy" stuff you see in the movies - the so called "fountain"...

so, with all these common forms and moves, and countermoves, it's going to look a like after a while. there's only so many ways to whack someone, and only so many ways to avoid being whacked, so... :>

the costumes? can't speak to that ;)

What's the golfer's excuse that wear them funny lookin checked pants and especially the ones that get tucked in their socks? :p

that reminds me...

any good videos teaching various techniques for stick fighting? attacks, blocks, counters, all that. dvd of course. anything from kubatan, escrima, bo/staff, 12 foot flexi-bo (whatever that's called)...

i've been using the poi lately to work on chain whip and rope dart moves - found a video on that, but wouldn't mind more. also found "weapons grade" chain whips - just $90. yikes.

always eager to learn a new trick.
