I'd choose the nail file by a mile for EDC. My favorite SAK is a Wenger Model 16, which includes both a nail file and an awl (and includes none of the tools I'd never use, like a corkscrew).

The nail file on the cadet also doubles as a Phillips head screwdriver...so...that's pretty handy.
