Whats MOST expensive knife out there?

Authentic Michael Price Daggers easily fetches 5 figures. When it comes to swords, I'll say a high end Masumune katana blade alone would cost more than my my house.

For the living makers, HH Frank and Yoshido Yoshihara routinely make knives prices over $10K.

$330,000? Dollars?!! If someone has that kind of money to spend on a sword I hope it gives them a hundred years of happiness. But for that kind of money I could have a modest, but nice, 3 bedroom ranch house out in the desert, a couple of classic cars and still have enough left over to get a few, good working knives or a few tattoos. I'm not a monk, or an ascetic, but I think there is a line I don't want to cross. And that's letting THINGS become more important to me than PEOPLE. Okay, I'll get off my high horse, now.

The Warenski replica of the tut dagger would probably sell for over a quarter million dollars.

The original tut dagger can be had for the price of a mere war.

Regarding unaffordable: The original dagger and sheath, of the mummy called the iceman (or Oetzi), found in the "Ötztaler Alpen".
A small triangular flint blade and an ash wood handle. Its triangular sheath-like scabbard is made of bast. A leather eyelet on the side presumably allowed the sheath to be attached to the belt, so that the dagger could always be drawn easily. Circa 5300 years old!

Fixed blades, i would say Chuck's right on the money, it has to be the 19 century Bowie knife, i heard of one selling for almost a million dollars a few years back at a private auction. Lately i would say one of the case knifes that went to the moon and back.

Rare Japanese swords sell the in the $100,000 range to over a million dollars i believe!

Folders, i never heard of one selling for more then Chuck's reported Rick Eaton one at $88,000.

I would caution you against repeating hearsay as though it were the truth. You are repeating something from another website, the owner of which is involved in a lawsuit with me. They have been charged in U.S. federal court with libel, fraud, and extortion. I have overwhelming evidence to that effect. You may have full confidence that the real truth will carry the case.

Perhaps I should thank you since your statements add to my case against them.

There are a lot of very fine people in this industry worth getting to know. I suggest getting to know something about the people you want to insult. Have you ever looked at any of my websites, much less spoken to me at a show, or even via email?

Busters King Tut Dagger up around $500K last I heard

Hrisoulas did a custom sword for a member of the Royal Family. He never revealed the price but it had a Narwhale horn for the handle!

deleted my original post, heat of the moment thing. Daniel jump over to www.axeforum.com and we'll talk...i'd rather work it out than turn it into other threads about your company, but it could have been exagerated from my friend but still i trust what he says so theres always 2 sides the the story. sorry about some of the things mentioned.

Well, of course a knife's value can be inflated either by historical significance or any amount of gems or gold, but maybe the better question is, what are the most expensive knives/swords that arent historically significant and havent been excessively embellished with gems/gold. I would say that the very high-end Japanese swords are near the top, Hartsfield Katanas sell for $15,000 and higher and thats with no gems, gold, damascus etc. And im sure there are some true masters that i havent even heard of that make swords for far more.

But, think about it for a minute. A katana is basically some tool steel, some ray skin which is very inexpensive, possibly a silver menuki, also cheap to buy and make, and then a differential temper. Very little spent on materials and yet, the $15,000 price tag. People bitch about Strider getting $250-$300 for their fixed blades because its too much for the materials, well, how about a $15,000 Hartsfield katana? Im not saying i dont want one, or that $15,000 is too much, but its a great example of how the cost of materials has little or nothing to do with the value of a knife.

This is not what goes into a katana - this is what goes into a Hartsfield sword, which has very little to do with a katana. You can pay several thousand $$$ of lacquerwork only for a nice katana, and again for the polish, again for the fittings - if they're custom rather than Paul Chen repros, plus the un-polished blade - which is typically *not* tool steel, plus putting all that together, etc.

I think Mr. Hartsfield swords are overpriced, but the point is, you can pay 3 times as more for a nice true Jpz swords without even getting it mounted - and I'm talking about a modern made sword, without any historical signification.
