As most of you know by now, I am a Huge Fan and Supporter of Chris Reeve Knives. I would like to know what is Next ???

* With the One-Piece line going away soon, what will follow it ?? There is no replacing it, but since it was such a Huge Part of their Lineup, it has to be followed by something !!!

* I like the Kitchen knives and will more than likely one day get the smaller one as I think it covers most tasks I would use it for in the kitchen !!!

* The Umnumzaan is still kinda new, I dont have one yet, I have had several chances to pick one up, but havent, mostly because I had a hankering for another sebenza or mnandi. I will definately get a Tanto Umnumzaan from TNK .

* The Sebenza & Mnandi continue to go strong because they are designs that will easily stand the test of time on their own.......I have a few of each and currently carry a sebenza and mnandi for EDC.

* The Umfaan is being redesigned, but for me, unless its cheaper than a small sebbie or mnandi, I will buy another mnandi instead.

* I like a couple of the Fixed Blade Knives, especially the Green Baret & Professional Soldier. A Professional Soldier is definately in my future.

My Wish List:

*** I do wish we could have a Special Edition Final Run of the One-Piece Knife......Its been made for 25+ years and certainly deserves it.
*** I would love to have a large mnandi, to me, its the only kife that could ever rival the great sebenza.

Any Other Ideas ???

ALL I Know is that whatever Chris Reeve Knives comes out with next, it will be ground breaking, It Always Is !!!!!!!!!!!!

^ You make some interesting comments my friend and I do agree with most of your sentiments. I would first have to see a large Mnandi before I could decide. I just cannot picture it. I like it small.

The one piece special fixed blade: The Scout model that we all so much would love to see. The support for it was huge in the official thread and motivation to take it into production.

I can understand why Chris moves away from the one piece. (Reasons stated in the interview a while back) Either way. I will support them always. Even if it costs me an arm and a leg in Rands!

I'd love to start seeing some varieties of the Umnum, like micarta inlays. Not sure it's likely to happen any time soon, though...

I understand about the One-Piece line but wouldn't it be great to get one last model, the Scout, as an end of the line?

Would definetly consider a Scout if it were available as a final one-piece send off.

Am thinking that the one piece offerings will be available with micarta scales in the basic lengths such as 4, 5, and 7.5" with similar blade shapes as the spear and clip point ala Shadow/Mark VI if they are different enough from the Niel Roberts, Pacific and GB and perhaps with or without serrations. What steel is anyones guess but I sure don't mind A2.

I would Love to see the "Scout", but I dont see that happening. The only way we are going to see a scout is to make one ourselves and leave it shiney on top like another member !!!

A "fair well" one piece like the scout or maybe a nice dagger would be great.

I'm also looking forward to what the future might hold for the fixed blades though.
I'm sure there will be some nice things to come.

While were on likes and wants, I wouldnt mind a Mnandi with no inlay and an Umnum with out the textured handle.
I dont know if the loss of the one piece line will open up other options on existing knives but that would be nice.

The One Piece Line...does this mean they are discontinuing ALL of their hollow handle blades?!?!?!? That is a HUGE gap to fill!

Yep, the hollow handle one piece knives will be going away by the end of this year. The guy who makes the blanks in south africa wants to retire.

I can't imagine they will not come out with some new fixed blades to replace the one piece line. They are too popular!

A CRK multi-tool sure would be sweet, something titanium, light, and nicer than current manufacturers' offerings. Sorta what the Sebenza was/is to the one-hand-opening, pocket-clipped folder world.

Professor.

I like the multi-tool idea, it certainly would be the nicest and toughest multi-tool ever I am sure with CRK Quality

Large Mnandi with no inlay.. love the blade shape... mmmmmm Bart1

I for one would like to see a "bigger" Mnandi. Same features, only half an inch more bladelength...

Kind regards,

Jos

I am not looking for a 5" mnandi that kinda would resemble a "Case" style knife, but something inbetween in the 4" range. In many ways I like it over the sebenza, and a mnandi that is larger is to me the only knife that you could compare to the sebenza and a larger one would be more heavy duty and able to handle the heavy duty tasks we throw at our sebbies, though I have put my mnandi through some tough cutting chores and they came through smiling and asking for more.

I hope the Mini-Umnumzaan. I have been told regarding the hollow handles that will be discontinued. Chris' South African friend who machines the one piece line will be retiring and he does not have an apprentice to follow in his footsteps and so the One Piece Line will end. CRK has told me that for the time being, there will not be a replacement and the existing S30V blades will be the extent of their fixed blades. It doesn't surprise me all that much as I would assume the heart and sole is really folders and most of their Government contracts are the S30V models.

I agree with the multi as well. Let's see it! Maybe even a hatchet made of A2 steel...
