What's next, more tools or materials?

2x42 if you can find it is a better starter option than your 1x30. I made 150 knives on my 2x42 before I built my 2x72.

I see from the comments that you're in Texas. Look up the Texas Knifemakers' Guild on Facebook. I bet there's somebody near you who would help you along.

More tools don't bake better knives, but better tools will help.

In the same way, high grade materials won't make a better knife. Leave damascus and fancy wood for when you have perfected fit and finish and produce good quality knives.

I always recommend making ten knives in a well established simple pattern - Drop Point Hunter. Make them one after another, not starting the next until completely done with the last one.
10 feet of 1084 and a slab of ebay cocobolo will make 15 knives. Using the same materials will show the progress from one to the next.
