So, I've inherited some money from my grandfather, and am ready for my next knife. Even so, I pretty much wanna keep it under $200. I've owned quite a bit, and y'all have helped me a lot over the years.

Front flippers intrigue me. They seem weird to me. I like colors, variety, uniqueness. I just got my first automatic, and would consider another.

Basically:

No G-10
No S30V
No Benchmade
No plain Ti
No thumbstuds
No fixed blades
I've owned most Spyderco's.

Protech interests me, but I hesitate because it seems a bit overpriced for 154cm, much like Emerson.

Also looking at the BHQ exclusive Real Steel G5 Metamorph CF

I really would prefer something with color.

What I have currently:

Spyderco:
Manix 2
Yo2
Domino
Gayle Bradley 1

ZT 0095S90BLK

Bailey Model 2 geek edition

Three Sisters Forge Beast

Brous Bionic

Kershaw Launch 8

Kizer Ki423

Southern Grind Spider Monkey

WE Deacon

Massdrop FF Gent Select

Thanks y'all. Oh and under 3.6" blade length.

Edit: I guess I should mention I'm looking for a modern, one hand open.

:) Sorry , but your "no's" rule out most of my top favorites (Cold Steel ) and you already know Spyderco . ;)

Lionsteel Otnat is worth a look if you’re open to a slipjoint. It’s a really good knife and has a variety of cover options.

Remember, plain Ti can be plenty colorful:

If you want a colorful, quality auto made in the USA try a Piranha:

Protech does make knives in S35VN, I’ve got a TR3 manual I bought several years ago. It may not be offered anymore

Always a treat picking up a new knife! The search is a huge part of the fun!

You’ve got some sweet inventory listed above.

I’m just curious, have you considered a GEC?

I know they meet none of your criteria...but I’ve recently been enjoying the unique attributes traditionals bring to the table.

Kinda took me by surprise how much I’ve started to enjoy them.

They are fun to look at and “Worry Stone” in the hand.

They cut great.

The walk and talk.

The patina.

The history.

At any rate, I’m excited to see what you eventually pick up.

Good luck in your search!

Yeah if it wasn't for the G-10 and thumbstud rules, would suggest the CS A-15 (green), Frenzy in blue, and Ultimate Hunter in orange.

Traditional style knives don't do much for me. I have had several, still have 2.

I'll look at those Piranha.

That’s a lot of No’s. Maybe a Opinel #8

Skipping the entire thread so far just to say, the Protech Tr3 is one of the best knives in existence. You need one asap.

Im in with the Protech crowd. Great knives. I had a TR3 Integrity in S35VN before my buddy pried it outta my hands. He likes it so it was worth letting it go! I may have to try to find another...

Mcusta, maybe? Don't know how you feel about VG-10, especially since they're hanging in the mid-$100s for most of their lineup (at least, if you buy them new). But they do different, and colorful, without being shouty about it.
