After hearing about issues at BladeHQ, I've been looking elsewhere. I usually do. I'm very seriously considering the GPknives exclusive blue Protech TR-5 acid wash. I wish it were red.

After an extended amount of searching, shopping, hemming and hawing, a little more hawing, I found a deal I couldn't pass up.

I just minutes ago ordered a Hogue Exploit OTF in gray. I considered the Compound, but decided I could always strip the ano on the aluminum and have it re-ano'd for a different color. Can't do that with G-mascus.

Very excited.

Wanted to add that of all the OTF designs out there, this seemed to have the best ergos, and I can carry it lefty if I so desire. I'm ambidextrous, with a lefty bias. However, 35+ years of right handed knives, scissors, etc, it's more natural righty.

I normally avoid S30V, but my Yo2 is not chipping at all, after several years, (and I got it used) so I figured it was worth a shot. Plus, knowing Hogue, the heat treat will be spot on.

This will be my second from them, I briefly owned an EX-01 like five years ago, and it was very well made.

I'm glad to be buying a USA made product. Don't get me wrong, I own Chinese, Taiwanese, and Italian knives, but prefer to give my business to US companies, especially smaller businesses. I guess that comes from growing up in a small family business, and working there over 15 years.

Anyway, super excited. I've been pretty much house bound the last two weeks, and looking at probably another month as I will be having another surgery on my toes in two weeks, so I have to stay off them. This new knife will extend my fidget fetish options. ADHD and RLS are a bad combination.
