What's Next You Hungry HOGs May Ask??. . . Howz About The INFI Combat Grade ASH 2????

Very nice, but not exactly what I was expecting in the ASH-2. The jury is still out on whether I'll pull the trigger...

This one intrigues me. I've got an NMFSH on the way and an ASHBM that I've been using for a little while now. I'm curious how this will feel in hand compared to the ASHBM, which so far has been my most favorite knife to date. Being thinner and a little shorter, I'm thinking it might be a good "big" knife that my wife can use. If nothing else, it'll be strapped to my go-bag when not in use.

I too would have preferred a little more meat on the bones .... .25-.27 would have been killer I think...hell I would have a .32 as well... ;)

Man, that full flat grind is so much cleaner looking than the saber grind. It's part of what I love about my ashbm le and even my basic 8 le.

I'm totally with you, I'm also a fan of the full flat grind and the Satin, B.I.G. or DC finish look better.

The handle difinitely looks like an ASH handle, but the blade shape is rather similar to an SFNO LE with saber grind, of course a longer version.

Or maybe the photo cheats....

On the other hand it is a beautiful blade.

Look Andy is trying to pretend he wont own at least 10 of these by the time its all said and done!!
...... there is that.... ;)

I have a (well more than one) custom shop ASH1 in .22 the new BG ASH is @ .25 the feeling in hand is VERY noticeable. I do slightly prefer the .25 (I just "need" it in INFI now ;) ) ....I think at .25-.27 this would have been more where most though an "ASH2" would have landed. I think the ASH1 really made it's bones ;) as a .32 beast :D :D

Still a decent blade @ .022 though? Or no? To me it looks bad ass but I admit I do not know the ins and outs of the difference in specs like some of you do

Kevin. If I did not have sizes similar to it, I would be all over it. I believe the battle saw was .22 also. Trying to talk myself out of it anyway....

For being about the same knife my .32 NMFSH does not seem all that thick for its size.

This seems like a good solution to the ASHwacker's excessive handle to almost achieve the feel of an old school SHBM. I suspect the end result will be very similar in specs to the following or slightly lighter, maybe 19oz for micarta, 20-21oz for g10.
BM-E = 21 oz; .25"; 9.5" blade; 15" oal

A very interesting offering all the way around. :)

Does that .02 really make a difference? Is it just the added weight for chopping? Or there some other advantage? Trying to decide if I am going to buy this thing

It is important to note why we chose a "high-saber" grind vs. the original "full-height" grind.

The high-saber ground, slightly thinner blade, effectively weighs the same as the slightly thicker full-height ground blade!!!!:D:thumbup: (Not the overall weight of the knife, just the blade portion)

The end result is, you get a very efficient chopper that is slightly lighter and faster than its chubbier siblings.

(Note that this is a comparison between a .250" thick blade and a .220" thick blade.)
