I recently have gotten into collecting (small time ) KA-BAR Beckers I currently have three; BK-7,BK9 ,BK11
to give me a good recomendation you should know what kind of collector I am, I really like to customize and use my knives and when I say use I mean ABuse and would be using the knives in local woods (the Oregon Cascades) so mostly generic survival tasks; shelter building, fire starting, trap setting, ect. So what should I buy next?

Thanks for the help!

I'd take a look at the BK15, BK16, or BK17. Of the three, I have the 17, and I like it quite a bit. I'm not sure how it compares to the other two. My brother seems to like his BK15. Since you already have the BK9 for chopping and the 11 for smaller tasks, I'm thinking the BK15 or BK16. I use my BK17 as a jack-of-all trades sort of knife.

Yep its time for a tweener... I love my 15, and it would be different from what you already have... cannot recommend enough.

Well the BK-16 looks appealing and I like the 15 for a camp knife (food processing) while i thing that a tweener is excellent option I'm still open to the others!

Tweener. 16. Will round out the collection nicely.
The Sabre-ground one can take a lot of abuse. Based on what I've but my 24 through, the FFG 16 should be plenty tough.
Pretty much all of 'em are great to customize.

Just remember the tweeners are all good all arounders with a little bit of specialty in each of them... The 15 (my favorite and EDC) its a perfect belt blade... pointy tip, sweeping belly, choiled correctly, a bit longer than the others, and swedged, it puts a lot of different features into itself all the while being very simplistic and reminiscent of older french and roach belly trade knives... It works good as a food prep blade, but it also will baton, do light bushwacking, carves well, slices through cardboard easily, and handles general cutting chores like a champ. You will find there is a big camp for each of the blades, the 15 lovers, 16 lovers, and 17 lovers... But I think we all understand how great all of them are... just pick your poison! THREAD NEEDS PICS!!!

Welcome fellow Oregonian (I'm a little out of place at the moment...)!

If you don't get a tweener next, get the BK10. Either way you come out a winner.

-The 2 is a beast and I think it's great for day hikes where you want the piece of mind of a .25" blade should the worst happen, but I don't actually use it much. I look at it kinda like a sidearm: I don't think I'll need it or plan on using it but the need may present itself.

-BK3: plenty of people have demonstrated that this can be an effective outdoor blade but I don't see how it would do better than your BK9 other than just plain toughness.

-BK4: I'm told they're a small bit better at chopping than the BK9 but not much. And the shape and design feel to me like it wouldn't be as good at all the other stuff the BK9 can do.

-BK5: Not a bad choice, lots of guys love it for all sorts of things beyond just food prep.

-BK10: It's like a short BK7!

-Ritter RSK MKII AKA the BK12 (though that's not an official designation) Worth every penny but you could almost get two Ka-Bar Beckers for the price.

-BK13: Tiny, doesn't cost much. Way too small for my hands but lots of guys seem to love 'em.

-BK14: Love mine but you have an 11 so it's redundant.

-BK15: Like it's big brother, it's good for more than just food prep.

-BK16/17: Small enough to carve and whittle and do all the nice little bushcrafty things we like to do but thick and tough enough that if you break one, you probably were doing something wrong.

-BK21: If you find yourself desiring better corrosion resistance and edge retention than your 11 than get it. Otherwise see BK14 above.

It's not a Becker but the Ka-Bar Navy MKI is a great knife and falls right in between the BK16 and BK10 for size and usefulness. The balance point is rather far back and I didn't care for that so I ground down the pommel a bit to shave some weight and move the balance forward. It's better but not where I would prefer it. Still like the knife though.

Throw in a Mora for good measure.

Looking back at your OP I'd say that the BK15 and 16 are the least similar to the other Beckers you already have, so one of those might be a good route to take.

another vote for the 16. rumor has it that its ethan's favorite of all his designs. thats gotta mean something.

The 5 and 15 are the most different from what you have already.

They remind me strongly of the Japanese tanto, if I could rename just one thing, it would be these to a "Becker Combat", also good for other things.

Looks like a great substitute fir the KA-BAR USMC, seeing them in the above photo.

Love the design, just figure out if swedges are your thing or not since they do bite into a baton a bit but I don't find it to be that big of a deal.

For the record, I don't own either, just got my 1st Becker today but I am a certified KA-BAR junkie..
