Sorry if this thread already exists here, I didn't find one. This is intended to be a more serious thread than the one in Wine & Cheese.

So I'll start- I'm looking to do a little woodworking so I have a table saw, some blades, clamps, things like that on my list. I've been eyeing a saw at Lowes for awhile but couldn't buy it because it is supposed to go on my Christmas list.

I've already have everything for everybody on my Christmas list. I try to have it done by the end of October every year but ran a little late this year. I don't like doing that.

I already know what I'm getting my wife on Mothers Day, but won't contact the maker until January. I think I already know what I'm getting my wife for her next birthday in September.

108 views so far and nobody's getting anything for Christmas, has every body been that naughty this year?

Everyday is Christmas around here!:) (I actually don't want anything specific for Christmas. There are many things that I could use, but...) I usually give or receive something without an occasion and enjoy Christmas either way.

There's really nothing I need to ask for I couldn't just buy myself, so I'll just get whatever.

To be honest though I'm hard to shop for and when nobody wants to just buy you something you'd buy yourself , I kind of dread getting Christmas gifts.

I already know the family is thinking of me so I don't need a poorly chosen gift to show it, and it's much better to give gifts anyways.
I consider myself a good gift giver for the most part ( don't we all ) and am much happier to see others open the gifts I give than open any of my own.

My grandmother is a good gift giver, but everyone else not so much.

My kids said I was hard to buy for so I told my kids long ago, if they give me something nonconsumable, hand-make it. Otherwise give me something consumable. I buy myself enough (too much) stuff that gathers dust. I don't need others buying it for me. Since then I've received:

-A handmade spoon carved by my son.
-Camp stove made by my son.
-Artwork from my youngest daughter (she has a BFA).
-Tie-dyed shirts from my youngest daughter.
-Hand thrown kettle and cups from my youngest daughter.
-Photos taken by my son with a disposable pin hole camera he made.
-Donations in my honor to favorite charities (usually from my oldest daughter).
-All kinds of meats I'd never buy myself (kangaroo, bison, gator, antelope, etc) from my oldest daughter.
-Gift cards for the cinema.
-Gift certificates for locally owned restaurants.
-Nuts and seeds of all kinds.
-Jerkies.

I bought my Christmas present with my wife's blessing so I'm set (G-Shock GWG-1000 Mudmaster). If it would have been without her blessing she jokes and calls it embezzling. When finances are great little Amazon packages start making their way to our doorstep. We order things all year so for Christmas we pick out a main item for ourselves, tell each other what it is, and buy it. Our little ones get all of the good stuff on Christmas but they're also very blessed year round.

So, in addition to world peace and socks, I ordered a vest and a couple other things from Dave & Nichole at Horsewright clothing, got my wife a nice watch (nothing crazy) and my son a food processor and a sweatshirt.

I thought the sweatshirt was appropriate because it says "What happens in Vermont Stays in Vermont. But nothing ever happens in Vermont." He moved the hell out of Vermont as soon as he turned 18 and now lives in Seattle.
