The only thing on my keychain personally are 3 keys. But my father who wont carry anything i give him as a gift such as a Spydie Delica and even a CRK small Sebbie. Instead he uses his dinky little victorinox gadget that has the little tweezers/knife ect all the time. Ive noticed that its about all used up, its even missing one plastic plate.

My question, Should i just buy him a new Victorinox? Im tempted to spring for one of the new Leatherman Squirt's that are coming out this fall.

What do you all carry on a keychain...and how do you like it?

Fuzzysoxs,
Welcome to Bladeforums!! :)
You can always do a search in any forum. Type in "keychain" and see what pops up. I would check here and the "Gadgets" forum.
I carry a Spyderco Jester. a SwissTech Utilikey, a green Photon II, and a white ARC led light. The SwissTech and ARC get the most use. I relly like the Utilikey(spelling??).
I would buy him exactly what he has, or maybe the model with an led light in it. :)

Besides the keys, I have a Photon II white LED light, and a Victorinox hiker on my keychain. I've had the Victorinox since I was in high school. While it's not my Sebenza, It's a good little knife. If he is happy with his SAK, get him another.

Welcome to the forum.

Personally my keys could be considered a weapon, I carry a SwissTech Utilikey, P38 SAK Tinker magnesium fire starter, waxed fire starter, my own handcuff key'(you never know when that'll come in handy), oh yeah and keys.

My keychain carry:

Spyderco Jester SE
white Arc AAA
spy capsule
and, of course, my keys.

I also used to have my Leatherman Micra on it, but with the addition of more keys, the weight was a little uncomfortable. Because of this, I now carry my Micra in my LF pocket. :D

Welcome,

Get him the Leatherman Squirt.

The only thing I have on my keychain is three keys.
I think the Leatherman Squirt would be cool.

red photon 11
sky capsule
small stainless scaled SAK
silver ingraved disk with horse head on it
about 10 keys

Let's see. . .

Of course. . .keys. . .a bottle opener, photon, and Leatherman Micra.

Give him a "Classic". . .and dress it up (his name or initials engraved on it). . . Approx. $22.

Or you can get him a Leatherman Micra (engraved). . . Approx. $25).

Or. . .

You can get him both. . . It's not like you're going to spend a butt load. . .

I don't really have a keychain, but if I did, it'd have my Ladybug II and my Victorinox Manager II on it. And I'm also going to vote you get him exactly what he has.

Micra and a belt clip, with the sere 2k there is no room in the pocket for keys. Anyway they would just scratch up the blade.

Here we go again.....
Victorinox Midnight Manager - pen, light, phillips - detachable.
Mini wooden keychain pen on detachable ring with Photon2 white.
Swisstech Screwzall
P38 (never used.....)
Nail Clippers. Get used for small wires, replaced periodically.
Whistle
Sliver Gripper tweezers
Arc AAA White
Seberknife on detachable car ring. Had to reprofile blade.
Photon 2 yellow on car ring
watch
2" Craftsman adjustable wrench

Rejected for various reasons:
Utilikey - plumb dangerous for a clutz.
Sebertech m2 - will not stay on ring, lost multiple times.
6" vise grips.....

Lost to the Wife:
Gerber LST. Used to be on car ring. Car guys were impressed with sharpness. (So was wife.) Still wonder what they tried it on. I miss that knife.
She tried to get my pen, did get my space pen, but a man has to know his limits.

I have a Cold Steel Tuff-Lite w/ clip point. Excellent size to open packages and other very light duty stuff.

Welcome to the forums!
Right now I have:
-Caribeener
-Ladybug
-Photon II (white)
-Dark Blue Traser Glowring
-Peter Atwood Ti Claw Ring :D

Matt

*I need to buy one of those little CS folders...they look pretty cool!

For awhile I have had:

Photon II Turquise
Leatherman Micra in Kydex holder
Green Glowring

Works for me, seems like a balance between carrying everything and nothing.

;)

Keys. Lotsa keys.

However in my watchpocket is almost always a Victorinox Mini Champ. And in left front pocket is Mag Solitaire modded with 12v and LED.

Those things ON my key ring would make it entirely too big and bulky.

The TiNi CrossCut is what I've carried for years (now, as of a few days ago, being carried in a Micro Rigs sheath by On/Scene Tactical). (This is nearly identical to same thing I posted in another thread...not everyone will read both).

As you can see, I have a dang big key ring. But, I have them segmented. I have my car key (and alarm fab) on one ring, my wife's car key (and alarm fab) on another ring, while I have all my other keys on a separate ring, and the TiNi CrossCut on its own ring. All is brought together by a carabiner (I have several in different colors...depends on my "mood") in which I can separate a portion in a second (like if I just want to drive my car without the keys to the universe) or attach the keys to a belt loop on my pants (for that tacky "janitorial" look...but at times very convenient). I'll often stow the whole ring, except for my car keys, when running into a store, for the simplicity and ease of carry. This all works really, really well for me.

I set my wife up with a similar system. She often has to give a student keys for something (she's a public school teacher) and doesn't want to give all her keys. If only she could carry a CrossCut on school campus without it being called a "dangerous weapon," but that's another topic! :(
