What's so good about the Sebenza?

Compared to other knives, what justifies the price difference?

For my next purchase I'm thinking of a BM 710 or 630 but just out of curiosity I glanced at the Sebenza (which happens to be like $250-300 more).

Can anybody explain the marginal gain of a $400 Sebenza vs. any solid $100 knife? I really don't see it.

Sebenza set the pace for top folders, Fit , Finish , cuts like nothing else.they stand behind there product, Smooooooth. style . get one you wont be sorry. :)

This comes up weekly. ( Is a 5L mustang any better car wise then a 2.4? It still gets you from place to place right?)

I think we should combine the threads about whether a Sebbie is worth it with the threads about anonymous negative reputation points. The point: I'm sure we'd all agree that Sebenzas are superior to neg rep points any day.

;)

There are tons of threads that you can research, but here's my opinion again:

The fit-and-finish are second to none.
The precision of assembly cannot be beat.

The actual cutting performance is quite good but is surpassed by plenty of other folders that cost much less.

Good luck,
Allen.

There are far more Spyderco's sold than Sebenza's, that doesn't indicate performance. I would imagine the more inexpensive FRN Spyderco's sell much more volume wise than the G10 models. Generally when you go lower in cost you make up for the smaller percentage profit by moving to higher volume.

My point was simply you can argue that the price of the Sebenza is justified in general as Reeve doesn't have a hard time selling one. Each individual user of course has to make their own decision based on what they want or need in such a knife.

The Ritter RSK for example has a similar blade, same steel, stronger and more secure lock, for less than a third of the price of a Sebenza. You can make similar arguements for the AFCK, Paramilitary, etc. .

Cliff, I love you,

I got a Full size Ritter RSK and the mini black and yellow and looking forward to whats coming from the critter.
The critter knives learned lessons from the sebbe for the blade shape and design. That is why I like them.

They couldn’t collaborate with the Criss for such a cheep knife.

Who do they go to? Benchmade who is always ready to steel designs. Like they did to Spyderco.
Cliff, I told you, It’s a knife eat knife world.

I told you they are aggressive and so is spyderco now.

Reeve didn't invent the drop point, that is a common shape found on all sizes of blades. Ritter is clear he was influenced by lots of knives, he even states the Sebenza specifically, has high praise for it, and even references it in his page on the Grip, he even sells a special version of the Sebenza. Arguing that Ritter ripped off the Sebenza with the Benchmade RSK would be hard to support, it is hardly a clone; radically different handle shape, different lock, different primary grind, etc. .

LOL! Where is the Grammar Police when you need them most? Post some pics of your Ritter Next to your Sebenza to show this "steeling"- Oh, thats right- you are only pretending to own sebenzas. :p

would never say that Reeve invent the drop point. That is like saying ford invented the wheel.

But I say that The South African knew how to put a knife together. And he taught you guys a thing or two.

He didn’t make the perfect knife , but knives are his life and possession, unlike some knife testers who just make big statements and pretend to be objective.

He makes them and I have the full respect for any knife maker. Not tester or manufacturer, but knife maker.

Reeve made knives and perfected them to his best. What have you made cliff?

It is easy to say that he sells, but all the top knife makers sell, including sal when he was a knife maker.

Know he is a manufacturer and a payer.

Salute

Unfortunately the Gramer Polise, (get the speeling right please), were bored into stupefaction at the appearance of yet another "Why is it worth it?" thread and were unable to respond.
