What's the appeal of bare steel handle fixed blades ?

I just paid just under $50 for this Bowie . I think the boot dagger runs ~ $40 . Seems like a good value to me .
 
My mistake - it was the CS DP Hunter, which could be had for 39, when recently I checked.

All the CS drop forged knives are a good deal IMO but then they are not expensive to make.

I like the Survivalist, the Bowie and the Hunter.
