Whats the best Case knife for under $50

Hello, which case is that on the right? and which handle material? Thats a nice blade combo and a good edc knife...

If you are refering to Flymon's photo, that's a Case/Bose Norfolk.

You won't find one for anywhere near $50 and rightfully so.

I have one that I got from a friend on the forums and you have a good eye there, caseknife64. It's an outstanding knife.

thats the first knife like that i've seen and is great lookin with just the right blade combo. I'm taking they dont make them anymore in that pattern? anywhere i could get one like that? Thanks again.

I'll go with the Texas jack as well. Just a few weeks ago I was looking for the perfect intro to traditionals for a buddy at work that's gotten into knives. My Texas jack now lives in his pocket. I think it's a great mix of size and usefulness.

Another 'rival' to the Texas Jack could be the Wharncliffe Mini Trapper, it's about the same size as the TJ but gives you a full Wharncliffe as the secondary and nail-nicks on the same side. Don't know about under 50 USD these days but the Bay might yield up examples. It's a very good knife.

If you shop around you can get a Sway Back Jack for that price. Great little knife.

I will 4th? the vote for the "32" series Texas Jack knife.
I am carrying mine today, and wouldn't trade it for any Case knife that can be had for under $50.

(it's the one on the left ;) )

What's on the right?

Ooops, already answered. My bad. Man, that is a sweet knife. No wonder. ;)

I really like the cv Texas jack over the cv amber canoe but both are great for under $50. I'll also recommend the cv chestnut peanut. It's a gem and a hard worker. For a few dollars more the swayback jack takes the cake.

Ok..my suggestion is that you hold onto that $50 for a little bit longer until you get about $20 more....and then you buy a TB swayback jack. I may or may not be going out on a limb, but I think it is the best non-Bose collab knife produced by the company in the last twenty years. I'm sure there are plenty on here that will agree. Don't jump then gun and spend $50 when you could wait a little bit longer and get a spectacular knife for a little bit more.

I've thought about a sway back jack. I really want to like it. I just dont like the looks of the main blade. I own a copperhead with the same blade. Its been sitting in the box new unused. Can you sell me on the blade?

I feel the same as you about Wharncliffe blades. The only knife I have ever liked a "big" Wharncliffe on is the SBJ.
I only use the Wharncliffe (or a Sheepsfoot or Coping) blade for it's point, the straight edge is not very useful to me. I need a little belly in my blades.
The Swayback Jack however is so cool you will excuse the main blade being a Wharncliffe.

I think it's s superb whittling blade. I don't like to use it for dressing animals..prefer a belly for that. But like it for everything else, including it's ease of sharpening.

The Chestnut bone SBJ is an awesome little knife! It'll do
anything you want/need it to! Worth trying out. imho.

It's plain to see that you need a Yellow handle Slimline Trapper in CV to round you out! I know where there is a large stockman CV amber bone for $45 NIB that could probably be had for less, but it does have the spey blade.

If the Swayback doesn't move you (Though it's THE best small CASE knife at the moment) well how about the above Slimline Trapper? Sleek, long blade but easy in the pocket. Redbone CV available too and numerous handles with stainless blades including a very smart one in black G-10.

Then there's the Mini-Copperlock.

Just a heads up, just got a SBJ for under $50, so it can be done. This is my second. Couldn't pass up the deal. And I'm glad some other people agreed with me. I just can't imagine a better knife for the money.
