whats the best KA BAR?

gotta disagree, the clear cut answer for both is 1) bk9 2) fox body 5.0 mustang, lol.

I'm guessing this guy may have got his feelings hurt and left, or maybe he was a troll.

The Fox bodies weren't bad but I'm going to have to go with a '94-97 F350 crew cab 4x4 with the 7.3l Powerstroke diesel engine and a ZF5 5-speed manual. With the 4.10 gear ratio and limited slip diff of course.

man you have good taste in trucks! I wish they hadn't stopped making the 7.3. my friend had a 97. that's my favorite model truck in general. in the gasoline I always liked the flareside in the 92-96 (it think that's right, I want to say the 350 kept the same body a year longer?
edit: there were some triple cab models of those trucks. it was a crew cab with extended cab behind it. there used to be two around here, I took some pics of one of them up close.

Yeah the F150 changed for the '97 model year and the F250/350 went through '97 but the Super duty body style didn't come out until the '99 model year, there was no F350 for the '98 model year. There was also a light f250 based on the F150 body style so all the older style f250's in '97 were badged as "heavy duty"

The triple cabs were aftermarket conversions. Centurion is one of the big names that made custom trucks like 4-door broncos and early crew cab 1/2ton pickups but there were others also.

never knew that was an aftermarket deal. i talked to the owner of the one i took pics of and i guess he didn't know. he was just talking about how there were x amount of them made and so on. i never could find much on the internet about them (probably 7-8 years ago that i tried to look them up.)

I think they were sold through Ford dealers so maybe that's where the confusion comes from. And of course they were pretty good at making them look like a production vehicle rather than something that was modified.

You might wanna check conversiontrucks.net. It's a whole forum about these types of aftermarket conversions.

Man, Looks like I really helped to derail this thread with my comment........haha......... not my intention but great info and very entertaining to say the least.

Agreed. Learned much here. My first truck at 17 was a 74 Ford 150, loved it. With my second truck I went with a Toyota Tacoma.....Love it.

So to kinda jack this thread, I'm looking for my first Ka-bar. It'll honestly be just a "because-I-want-one" knife, but most likely be used for yard work (I'm a suburbanite). So, is the BK9 or 16 still the one to go with? Also, I noticed they are pretty thick knives, does that mean the blade is dull OOB?

Best bet would be to start a new thread if you can't gleam enough info from already existing threads. You'll need to be a little more specific about the intended use as "yardwork" could be pruning delicate flowers or removing an adult tree. The 9 and the 16 are at opposite ends of the knife spectrum so both have their place, just depends on what you need them for.

That depends - Do you own a Ford?

I have seen photos of the BK3 Tactool being used as a gardening tool for digging and such, and the Kukri being used as a hedge trimmer. So, an answer to your question might be, less knife and more tool....or just something that looks scary as hell yet cuts just about anything.

Although, check out the BK4 Machax. It might be just the the thing you are looking for.

To me, the Big Brother. They say becker 9, but true mall ninjas will always prefer the Big Brother. Is not full tang, and they despise it for that reason. And the top partial saw.
But it light in weight, and a tad longer than the bk 9, and has a finger guard, essential for dark ops, as anyone knows.
ka bar big brother, the macho men knife.

Agreed. Full size 7" blade USMC fighting knife. It's a very well rounded knife.

The best ka-bar is the one I got from my father while I was in the Navy. Its a ww2 Blade marked USN MK2 with the green fiberglass scabbard. My dad got it from a family friend who was in the sub service in ww2. Dad got it as a gift in the early 1950's when he was a boy scout. He shipped it out to me before I left for the gulf war. It has honest wear from a boy scout and 2 sailors in 2 different wars. Wouldnt trade or sell it. Waiting until my son is old enough to relize how special this knife is.
