Whats the best production flipper

Another vote for the Southard. A very smooth flipping action. Good detent. My favorite flipper thus far.

Another vote for these two. Southard if you want something lighter, smaller and more pocket friendly, 561 if you're in the market for well made tank of a flipper.

I don't know about a tank of a folder on the 0561. It does look like one though. Mine is brand new and has blade play, I can even disengage the lock with my hands.....Also, I see a lot on the forums about people having issues with their 0560/61's.

The Southard. No one has posted an issue yet on this forum. I know the lock up on mine is rock solid. It's certainly a heavy duty folder.

Whoa you're hella late.

I've been out of the production game since the ZT0561 came out. Customs and mid-techs come first.

EDIT: I've also never been a Benchmade fan so I've never kept up with their product line, but I do like the axis lock.

I see, I was just surprised because the 300SN has been a hot topic on BF since it came out a couple of months ago. I spent my dough on other BM's, won't be getting it. Are you gonna get one?

The axis lock doesn't have the detent to make a good flipper. Owners are reporting the need for wrist flick to flip open. Too bad I like the axis lock.

the two I tried plus the one I bought didnt need any wrist flick at all but it opens alot faster with the thumbstuds.

Kershaw Skyline hasn't been brought up yet. Best flipper under $50 and the knife that got me addicted to knives. I have yet to handle a Southard but definitely plan on getting one

Oh, sorry to hear it. The one I handled was very nice, no blade play, solid lock up and definitely no lock rock. It didn't flip quite as snappily as the Southard, but it flipped well. That said, it was way too heavy for my purposes.

The fit and finish on the Southard is pretty amazing. Having recently sold the Sebenza I bought I wish I'd still had it so I could compare them directly, but it definitely didn't feel like any drop off in quality going to my surprise Southard.

I voted Southard based on the construction quality, smooth flipping action, and size and weight. On style points I'd have to mark it down, though. I find the scratchy brown scale, asymmetry and Spyderco hole detract from its appearance, so I enlisted Barry H. to slim mine down and pretty it up with some LSCF scale work.

Out of the flippers I've handled (which isn't many) the Southard gets my vote. I'm still waiting for the funds to get a Hinderer tho.
