What's the best way to care for a horn handle

Would I be right to assume that these product swell the handles a bit too? Been a dry winter here and my horn handles don't care for it, shrunk a bit and one of the pins is a tad loose in my m43. The handle has just a slight amount of play on the left scale, and you can see where it's pulled away from the tang and butt cap a bit. I bought it as a blem but the repair's held up to chopping thus far, it's more of a cosmetic repair than anything, but the pin and scale has me just a little worried.

Just a FYI, never worked with horn or bone before so it's all foreign to me. Got a layer of wood oil set on it now, if that makes a difference I may do a few more coats of that. Would slightly tapping on the rivet help?

Tapping the pin a bit should snug it up just fine. Make sure the slab is clamped up tight to the tang.
The pin is to hold it, really shouldn't snug it down with the pin if you follow.

You could try soaking the whole handle over night in some mineral oil and it might swell back up enough to be snug.

The pins I've encountered are soft so they do well at peening over and holding.
