whats the best way to carry a case trapper?

Normally I carry a Stockman, but for any pocketknife under 4" I carry it in my LFP. A pocketknife over 4" goes in my back pocket alongside my wallet, once I get to a Buck 112/110 size knife I carry it in a belt sheath. OH

You can get horizontal carry sheaths and an open top sheath that both work really well. I prefer the open top sheath

I recommend a couple of ways.

Many good suggestions. I carried a Trapper in right front pocket for many years. Depending, I also carried it right rear pocket. Then one day I didn't like carrying it either way. The knife was fine, I just didn't like the way it carried in the pocket. Today, I would probably have a sheath for it, either pocket sheath or on the belt.

All said, I think this an individual thing. You need to experiment. What works for others may not work for you. Even what works for you today may not work tomorrow. Just explore.

The Buckaroo Sheath method that Horsewright Horsewright showed is very effective. That type of sheath is frequently used here where I live.

I used to just carry anything up to 4 1/4" in my front pocket when I wore Levis. But then my wife started shopping for me and bought me a bunch of Wranglers. The downside to the Wranglers is that the pockets aren't as generous as the Levis' pockets are and they have no watch pockets.

This is another type of open-top sheath.

I haven't seen anybody suggest carrying in the little right hand knife/change pocket, unless I missed it. I often carry my Buck 110 auto in that pocket and never really notice it. Never fallen out and draws quickly with the bolster exposed out of the upper right side of that pocket. A slip with a clip would hold perfectly in there and a trapper size knife should tuck in nicely. Heck, I've carried compact carry pistols in that pocket that fit snugly with the whole trigger guard in there, just the grip exposed. With a polo shirt untucked, no one's the wiser and you have a free carry holster.

Since Paul's (@Chui-888 ) post of one of his Maxx Capdebarthes belt sheaths, which prompted me to find one I liked, I've been carrying my 4" Lloyd trapper and others almost exclusively this way. Very easy access and a good looking solution.

Pocket slip mostly. Occasional open top belt sheath if it happens to be a knife I don't mind banging up.

I switched from 13 MWZ, to 31 MWZ, and now only wear the 20X Competition 01 style. The Comp jeans have deep pockets and a large accessible watch pocket.
