What's the biggest knife you regularly carry?

1. Biggest regular carry folders are the small espada or the ZT560. Carried the spyderco resiliance for a while. Great blade for the price, it flies open when flicked due to the size and weight.

2. The only fixed blades I EDC carry are the Bill Moran drop point IWB or the Kershaw skyline fixed blade in my back pocket. I only EDC a fixed ocassionaly because the folders are more comfortable and convientient. I live in a south west suburb of Chicago. Illinois in general doesn't have length laws but you have to watch in some of the cities like Chicago where the limit is 2.5".

3. Favorite camp knife is a well used Buckmaster post patent. my father bought it in the early 80's passed it to me a few years age and its been in regular use ever since by both of us.

Can only reply for no.1. Don't have any fixed at the moment.

Can't carry fixed blades where I am in NY, and unless I'm in NYC I will likely have one of these in my back pocket.

To me, weight is more of a concern than size. For this reason, I tend to carry the Para2 more than my Gayle Bradley.

Most days my edc is a Kershaw tyrade, cold steel pocket bushman, or a Kershaw needs work.

If I need a fixed blade, its usually a rc4 with an izula piggybacked on it.

I prefer a small folder, I carry a Large Bradley Alias (It's called "large" just because it's the larger version of that model. The blade is 3.5 inches long).

I also regularly carry a fixed-blade (Wilson Model 25 with a 5 inch blade). I live (and carry) in a completely urban part of San Diego and I carry the knife wherever I go. I wouldn't have a problem carrying something larger and probably will if I ever get the money to buy some knives I would like.

When camping, I carry a Buck 110 and an old full-sized Kabar USMC knife.

That's a nice knife (Wilson Model 25)! I'm surprised you EDC one though. :D

I'm going to break this up into three sub-questions:

1. What's the biggest folder you regularly carry?

2. If you either regularly or occassionally carry a fixed blade as your EDC, which is the biggest one of those you carry? Extra Credit: Describe where you live in general terms (Small Town in the Southern USA).

3. If you only carry your big knife on camping or hunting trips what's the biggest knife that you carry?

Very curious about people's responses an especially to see for #2 if anyone regularly carries a 20" Arkansas Toothpick or something awesome.

1. Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. It's been my EDC for a few years now.

2. Mora #333 machete. 13" blade but it's slim and very light. It lives on the side of my pack unless going someplace where it would be highly inappropriate, in which case it's short enough that I can just tuck it inside the main compartment. I live in Maine, though. Most folks don't even notice it and those who do usually think it's cool.

3. When I'm out and about I'm usually carrying a 20" machete. :)

I'm not a huge fan of, big fat thick chunky knives. The biggest I carry is the Horton Tac 4, at 4 inches and the Les George Rockeye also comming in at 4 inches.

It's one of the few knives I bought without handling it first, and one of my three most expensive knife purchases.

It's very rare that I see a knife that appeals to me, and when I saw that one, not only did it appeal to me visually (I was still into "tactical" looking knives) but all the specs and the description were as close to perfect as I figured I was going to get without going full custom. I ordered it with the full intentions of carrying it.

But to tell you the truth, knowing what I know now I wouldn't buy it agin. And the reasons are- The blade is too thick. It was advertised as 3/16th" thick but it's closer to 1/4". As a result, it's a heavy knife for it's size, heavier than I would prefer. The other is that it came with a steeply ground edge. Basically it was a sharpened prybar, which is not what I wanted.

I modded the knife by grinding off the lanyard hole, this reduced the amount of "print" on those rare occasions when I carry conceald. I never use a lanyard anyway.

I also re-ground the edge using diamond hones. It took several days of work (D2 is tough stuff) but I finally got the edge thin enough to make the knife a good cutting tool.

The kydex sheath that came with the knife is excellent.

Cold Steel Recon 1.
Very easy to carry for a bigger knife, it does inspire a sense of confidence to handle anything unexpected that could come up. If I'm out at the park, or taking my little one on a walk in the woods it is on my person.

I carry a spyderco south fork in my front jean pocket. The knife has a very slim profile and just about a inch of the handle but sticks out. But I am a larger individual.

1) CRKT Nirk Tighe
2) Becker BK2, 2nd Gen
3) 3 Chirra Khukuri

I almost always carry the Becker and 3 Chirra if I'm out, good combo.

I carry a CRKT Foresight as my EDC...It is a fairly large folder, but it feels comforting in my hand.
