What's the deal with a tie-wrap on a Spyderco?

Different strokes for different folks. I agree that it certainly doesn't look factory, but it does seem to get the job done.

Then again, I'm not a fan of waving a knife. I'd rather have a good fast flipper or a knife I can snap open flicking my wrist hard.

So zip tie wave features don't appeal to me, but getting hung up on what others do with their own knives slightly smacks of snobbery, imho.
But I'm sure there is a more aesthetically pleasing way to mod the knife without cutting in a wave or a zip tie.

Not a fan of waving but it does work. I've done it to a bunch of my Spydies only to take it off later that day.

I think it's kinda stupid but to each their own. I personally see no purpose for a wave feature on an EDC knife. Even less so if the wave is done with a zip tie. If a wave feature helps you overcome a physical limitation, that's an entirely different situation.

Now, the zip tied nut is a special circumstance. Everyone knows that the zip tied nut is used by only the deepest, darkest special operators (DDSO). Not for the non-pro crowd. These are people that could kill you with a moldy sparrow feather.

I don't really get the "I walk the Mean Streets and need a rapid deploy knife for self defense" rationale. Yeah, I want to head into a knife fight with a zip tied Delica. That'll end well o_O.

A zip tie or nuts and bolts work as camouflage in big cities. You can pass as a homeless person and not have your knife confiscated.

Oh, I forgot, trigger warning: if the term homeless person offends you now is the time to go to your safe space. I think it is called W & C. :)
