What's the deal with holes in interrupted diamond hones?

The stands are an addon for which you pay extra. The other things too. So that is not an issue.
The drilling is through steel covered with nickel.
It is a plastic polymer with a steel layer coated with nickel which acts as aholder for the diamonds.
They have a base so they can come double sided without damaging the coating - when laying on a surfaCe - and the double sided thing without the weightof the continuous stones makes them easy too handle
 
They do, the price varies as the case changes. Least expensive is the plastic box, more expensive is the wooden one.
