Honestly folks, I never handled one nor even seen one in person. But it appears that people around here swear by them. So let me hear it!! Why are they better than any other flashlight?? Why should I spend that much on one when a mini mag is $10 or so. I don't coubt you folks, I just want to know what the craze is all about.

Oh my gosh.

I would have said the same awhile ago. But after getting my E2e it just blows away any other regular flashlight out there. Its smaller than your mini mag and will still throw a better beam than the giant D-cell mag lights. I think its one of those things you need to see to appreciate. I told my mother about this great flashlight I had bought but she wasn't really expecting something as small or as bright as the E2e I showed her. Buying anyone of them is a purchase you would not regret. I sure don't. Only gripe is once you see it you never want to go back to using a normal flashlight again.

the reason they are so popular is that they are the best light on the market, the smallest/brightest/neatest looking imho, w/a very good warranty, if it breaks they fix it, no questions, the only reason i still carry my 5C cell batonlite is to use it as an impact weapon, lighting chores are handled by SF.

i have a Z2,Z3,E2e,M3 and C2(just got ti today, a EKI collaboration version), still want a M4 and a E1, only bad thing about SF, one is never enough........like potato chips, ya cant buy just 1.......

imho, a C2 or E2e and a inova X5t, will handle about all your illumination needs, within reason of course.

try one, ya will like them , and wont believe the power they have for the size.........

I had a Mag... then I bought some Energizer light with a Xenon or whatever bulb that made it appear pee-yellow.

Then I bought an E2e that made the Energizer look like it was shining through smog.

I don't think it ever ends... most of the "common" lights (Mag, etc.)I see now look pathetic.

I have guys on my job ask me that all the time. Then they shine their issued full size Streamlight on the wall next to my SF 8X. When they see my SF has no dark spots where the SL has a nice dark spot in the middle surrouned by dark rings. Heck my E2E HA is brighter. Plus SF's customer service rocks.

Why Sure Fire? They are the best damn lights out there bar none. Once you go SF, there ain't no lookin' back :) Do yourself a favor and buy one and see for yourself. Warning though, these lights are as addicting as knives are

I bought one of the original 6P lights and was very impressed with it,even considering how much I paid for it at the time.
Then I upgraded to the P61 lamp assembly.
OMG, the light output for such a small package totally amazed me. I'd venture to say that the 6P with the P61 Lamp puts out a brighter, whiter, more focused beam than any Mag Light, regardless of size.
120 Lumens, Boy Howdy!!!! Nothing can hide under 120 Lumens!!!

Well, This sounds like one of the "You have to see for yourself gadgets" So I guess my next order will be for one. Now, Which model is best for the price???

If you're interested in SureFires, do yourself a favor and go to Walmart and pick up a Brinkmann Legend LX. This light will teach you about the kind of output that little lights like this can have, the short runtimes, and the very expensive batteries it eats. Use it for a while and then if you want more, get yourself a SureFire.

Paying many times more than the cost of the LX will get you a slightly smaller, more compact light with better quality and great customer service. If you're buying a 2 cell SureFire, you'll need to get the upgraded lamp assembly (20 bucks...same cost as a whole Legend LX) to exceed the brightness of the LX.

I've found that sometimes in life, its better to just jump straight to the top and get the best, and not pussyfoot around. Other times, its preferable to get increasingly better products so you can appreciate more fully the stuff that lives at the top.

Your choice.

   SUREFIRE M4 DEVASTATOR for $265????????? A flashlight for $265?????????   That's taking things alittle to far. I understand there products are the best on the market, But $265 for a flashlight is ridiculas!!!

Almost as rediculous as paying a couple hundred bucks for a piece of metal with a sharpened edge on it...

Don't get the E2e-HA. For that matter, don't buy any SureFire, but especially not the E2e, under any circumstances. It just isn't safe for your wallet. These things are as addictive as knives...maybe even worse. While you're not getting the E2e, don't go thinking you want something really bright, with tons of throw, but not needing expensive batteries. Please don't. You might end up with an UltraStinger, and start wanting one for the car, and another for the house (to go with the one that gets you from one to the other, ya know?). Then you might start thinking of buying a plain SF like a 6P as a base for a bunch of add-ons, just so you can have a playtoy with $300 worth of options. Believe me, I speak from recent experience!
The best thing you can do right now is just RUN. Run fa fa away, to somewhere that the sun always shines, and you never hear about flashlights, or how cool they are.
Save yourself while there is still time:eek:

But the Surefire E2HA that I own is the most amazing light source I've ever seen. There are no apologies required. It's flat out better than anything you've ever held in your hand unless you're a certified Flashlight nut! Even then, it's probably your reference standard.

I guess that certain tactical appliactions might need a larger Surefire, but I can't imagine needing that much light. The E2 serries is a formidable pocket torch for nearly any application.

The finest things in life come with a "little" price tag. Keep in mind that you can get Sure Fire stuff at a small discount if you buy it off of the web. I guarantee you, any Sure Fire light is worth its price. There is nothing else in the world that can compare with SF.

Try getting the E2e-HA first. A bit smaller than a Mini Maglite, and puts a HELL of a lot more light out than much bigger Maglites. The E2e is easy to carry with a pocket clip and has a optically coated Pyrex lens with a 65 lumen xenon-halogen lamp. Other features include a Type III Mil Spec hard coat anodized finish and a lock out tailcap. It lists for $85. The E2e packs a lot of features in a compact light. Get one, I guarantee you will be satisfied with it.

I'm going to take the other side of the coin on this and mention that the SureFires that I had (6P& 9P) went through those expensive Lithium batteries like they were ice on a hot day! My cheap Mag-Lite flashlights run on standard (read cheap) AA, C, and D sized alkaline batteries that don't take a 2nd morgage to keep them powerered, and with those fancy zenon bulbs they are bright enough for me.

Dann - I can see your point. Which is part of the reason why I bought the KL1 and KL2 LED heads for my E2e and M3, respectively. (Then again, I bought another M3 in which I am running the regular lamps in because I love the output of those as well :) ) I know that they don't put out the super bright light that SF is typically known for, but as far as LED lights go they are the brightest. And this way, I can still have a high performance light geared towards more utilitarian use and save money on those 123A's. But I think with the quality of SF lights and their quality of light output, buying those 'spensive 123A's make it worth while.

If you want a light that puts out lots of good quality white light, buy a drop-in Luxeon Star modification or a complete modded flashlight from one of the modders on CPF. An overdriven regulated Luxeon Star running on 2 rechargeable AAs in a Maglite (or Legend AA) will put out around 30 lumens for a decent length of time. You get miniMag portability, WHITE light, rechargeable AA cheapness, and a bulb that in reality, will never burn out over time or blow when you drop it.

Go to the Homemade and Modified Flashlights forum and start perusing.
