Whats the deal with Surefires???

I am glad TheBadGuy brought up this issue. It has been hovering in my head for a long time.

I dare not bring it up for fear that the senior members of the Surefire Club will shine their hellfire light on me.

I still can't bring myself to spend so much money on one little torchlight. I have held and "played around" with a few Surefires, courtesy of friendly owners.

I must admit it's almost like holding a stick of dynamite in one's hands. The light is blinding and its compact casing is cute, durable and is a product of marvellous engineering.

Having said that, it's still too much money for a stick of light.

I really have to sit on this one. However, if a crazy person gives it to me as a birthday gift, I won't resist accepting it.

Surefire - shining right into the future??

Lagger Pro has the Surefire G2 for $45 with free shipping. That's not a lot of money. It comes with the P60 lamp assembly, easily the equal of a 4D maglite. You always have the option to buy the P61 later for double the light output. For a little bit more, the Surefire G2Z costs $67.50 with free shipping, and includes the combat grip, pyrex lens, lockout tailcap, and lanyard.

The typical production Benchmade costs three times the G2 or two times the G2Z.

*shrug*

Botach has the G2 on sale for $29.95.
There's a thread on candlepower that talks about making your own rechargeable 123's.

Botach? I wouldn't recommend that scam retailer to anyone. Personally speaking, I'd rather pay the extra $15 to purchase from an honest retailer like Wayne Lagger.

I know a lot of people have had problems with Botach, but they're not a scam retailer. More like occasionally incompetent.
I've bought a Streamlight Scorpion and a SF C3-HA from them in the last month, with no problems. It was my first time ordering from them, and I was a little concerned because of all the horror stories I've heard.
Everything went fine.
I can't comment on what their customer service used to be like, but with both my purchases I received an e-mail when they shipped, with a UPS tracking number and a link to track the package on their site, as well.

Hmm, I didn't know about the stories of Botach. I ordered a Wedgit from them a week ago and it took them a while to process my order but all was still ok and I got it in due time. I also just orders a Surefire E1E From them and they had it shipped the same day! In both cases I got a email with UPS tracking number. Guess I got lucky huh? What were the problem before? Thanks!

Ohhh!! How is the Wedgeit? Hmm, maybe I would risk $12-$15 to order a Wedgeit from them. :p

The Wedgeit's great! If used as a doorstop (jam it under the door) you would litterly have to break down the door to open it up!! I love it!

I wonder if I could use it as a wheel chock for my car. LOL.

Thanks for the update. :)

the very first torches i used were energizer
next were the pelican xenons
and then i got what i thought was the top of the line : underwater kinetics

surefire rapes them all :D

Ya gets what ya pays for..........
Suppose you had an ARC AAA, an INOVA X5T, and a SF M3. (I do)
That's kinda like a handgun battery:
.22 Auto
9mm compact
.454 Casull

See? Bing. Bang. BOOM. A light for every need.
Yes, the M3 is expensive, but how can you not appreciate the Casull of pocketable flashlights?;)

I dunno about that. I might consider it:

blink (E1/K1), bing (G2Z/P61), Bang (M3), BOOM (M6/10X)

:D

Dam guys....and yet here I sit with only an old Trusty 6Z !!
Still does what I need it to though...:D

You do at least have the P61 high output lamp assembly right? You could also upgrade it to have a lockout tailcap. And if you're really crazy, a black M2 shock isolated bezel. There's still hope for your 6Z yet. ;)

I know most of you don't stake your life on a flashlight, but think of things like life insurance. How much am I worth? Would I really need this, Or will this save my life someday?

I believe in the power of a strong light. Surefire actually thinks of their lights as a Force option on the use of force continuim. If you ever shined it in someones eyes at night it can cause a sensory overload.

Will this save my life someday? Who can answer that?

a SureFire can Easily save your life, Say your walkin outside to do something in the middle of the night, And someone walks up and attacks you or pulls a knife out and wants your wallet, ok so you act like your reachin for your wallet then whip out the SureFire and shine it in there eyes and they will become dizzy and confused and that will give you enough time to grab there hand with the knife in it and beat them over the head or you could reach for your knife and go buck wild ;).

I have an E2 with a blue and red lense adapter plus I have an Original Inova in Blue...These light s are the last 2 I will ever buy...Neither will ever fail...

Surefire and the Inova's are worth every penny. if you don't think so, just give it to someone whos been using a maglight for the last decade...My dad has been bugging me for a year now to buy him an Inova X5...Well, Xmas IS coming. ;)
