What's the deal with the Umfaan?

BTW Raoul, are you refering to "The Old Man" in Amsterdam? Been there couple of times... great selection of some hard to get knives! Of course European prices are "a bit" different than US, but that's due to border duty (about 10%) and VAT on top of that (22% or so, depends on country). But at least if you have 600-700 EUR you can walk in and couple of minutes later walk away with perfect brand new Umfaan in your pocket

Yep....,"the old man" is the store I was talking about!
I used to buy all my knives there for years......,that is,untill I got my computer and internet and met all those nice people on the several knife-forums!!!(Now I only buy knives through the internet! )

Yes....,they have a decent collection of Umfaan's and other CRK's,but the prices are not in comparison.
(But,like you said......,I can have 5 unique Umfaan's before the end of the day, though it would cost me a months pay!):D

I think this thread needs to be bumped back to the top!! I'm still wanting an Umfaan... BADLY!

The Umfaan ROCKS!! I have recently become the very grateful owner of one. Get one if you get the opportunity!!

I Think maybe this thread needs to be ressurrected. Isn't the blade show coming up? Man I hope that the UMFAAN gets reintruduced there!! Bring back the UMFAAN.

Me too!

Please, please, bring back the Umfaan!

I'm too young in the knives world to have known the holly Umfaan period, and now I'm affraid that it's too late...

AW C'mon Rosconey2. nuthin special? Maybe it's not your thing, small knife in the sebenza form factor is exactly what I want. I'm a jeans and t-shirt type guy. when I dresss up I wear my 'nice' jeans and usually a hawaiian shirt. I like the Mnandi but it's just not my thing (too pretty) plus I've got this totally unresonable thing about clips. (Hate em) I also have to have a lanyard on my knife. (I'm one opinionated cuss) I've got the large Flat Grind Sebbie for work. I just need the 'date' knife that would be perfect to use in those all to often circumstances where alot of sheeple are around. Been kicking myself for not getting one I saw for sale three or four years ago, and so far I haven't been able to score one used for what I'm willing to pay. (I have a hard time ponying up more than origional retail for a used tool.) Until I finally luck into one, I keep hoping Chris Reeve will reintroduce what I consider to be the perfect cigar cutter. Later Ron

Since this thread has come back to the top again, I would like to add my plea for Chris Reeve to please, Please, PLEASE bring back the Umfaan!!! later GDWTVB

Yes, bring it back but,... WITH A DIFFERENT THUMBSTUD!

Don't you guys have a problem with that little thumbstud? Boy I do.
