Whats the deal with Vaughn tools?

Vaughn tools uses 1080 carbon steel..My old friend Stuart Willis found this out directly from the manufacturer..I also found a old court document where a farmer was sueing the company over a sharp from a chipped hammer face that put his eye out(he was beating on a three point hitch pin) In that document they also said that Vaughn used 1080 carbon steel..
The only company that Ive asked that has said they used 1080 steel is Vaughn..Ive seen that people have started saying "1080 ball peen hammer" because of this but if it isn't a Vaughn we don't know if its true or not.
Heres the case

I recently purchased a Vaughn framing hammer and it was clearly marked as made in the USA. It won me some points with the guy who`s house I was working on at the time, I was also carrying some made in the USA Craftsman needle nose pliers and a Spyderco Manix2 from Golden of course.

Vaughn seems pretty explicit that their "made in the US" tools are manufactured in the states. I read a review ( on Amazon so take it with a grain of salt) that said the axe was a poorly made casting made overseas. Does anyone have any first hand experience with their axes? They seem like a decent start for a semi-custom for an axaholic.

I cant say for 100% but I have personally reforged several of their ball peens and a few of their hatchets and they were all good quality steel.

Miss uses a tool and wins the law suit. It's no wonder there are so many" wear safety goggles" stamps.

Thanks for your input Kentucky. Its no wonder Vaughn's have been one of my favorites. Just by being a user of tools it seems that the cream will always rise to the top. Even if we don't know why they are so good.
