Skean Dubh, or however it's properly spelled, is the traditional Scottish Dirk. Culloden was a battle for the British throne fought between Scotland and England. Cold Steel makes a dirk called the Culloden named after the historic battle. It is reminiscent of the Skean Dubh but hardly authentic. Perhaps your friend had the Cold Steel knife and was referring to its model name. Take care.

That must be how/where he picked it up.
I knew the scottish dirk usually had a blade between 10-15". the sgien dubh(one of 5 diff spellings)usually has a blade between 3-4". I remember reading about the battle at culloden.... but never made the connection with the Cold Steel knife.
Thanks .
