Bought a 3mil but wanted something larger so I ordered the RC5. Now I'm looking at the RC6 and wondering why the 6oz difference in the smaller blade and different grind.

The 5 is a thick mofo.

Don't be worried though, you're going to love it. It's my urban survival knife. If there's ever another big earthquake here (second largest ever on record happened here) and I survive the initial shitstorm, I'm counting on the 5 to cut, pry and bash me to safety.

in addition to the different thicknesses, the 5 is saber ground and the 6 is full flat ground. the 5 has the glass breaker pommel and a large lanyard hole that will take a carabiner, it also has the divot on the scale for use as a fire bow bearing.

dig a little. there were a lot of threads on the 5 in the past few months.

but the 3 and 4 seem to be more popular, just in numbers sold.

They are very different from each other. The 5 is much thicker (as stated), it has a glass breaking pommel and the handles are different between he two. Also, tho the 5 has a thicker blade, the 6 is longer. Another big difference is that the 6 has a finger choil.

As you can see they are very different blades. The answer to why the 6's blade and grind differs from the 5's, is because the 6 is designed to be more of a chopper.

I would just say for you to buy the 6 next and then you will see, you wont be sorry i promise.....:D

The 5 would laugh at a Nuclear Holocaust, the 6 would need it’s edge touched up.

And no canvas micarta option on the 6.

If you are gooing to spend most of your time slicing, get the 6. If you plan on splitting cross ties and driving railroad spikes, get the 5. If you want to look cool amongst your friends and buddies, get the 5 or the Junglas. If you really want a survival blade, buy a 15 dollar Tramontina machete and learn how to use it ;)

This thread needs more pictures!

Twinwhiskers, did you wipe that table off before taking those pics so you didn't get your pretty knives dirty? :D

Yep, that was a pretty decent smart ass comment. Gotta give him credit for that one.

I had a teacher in Jr. High tell me I always cracked jokes at people because I was unhappy with myself. So I scissor kicked him in the face but that's here nor there....

I'm envious of TW's photo skillz. I will never understand the ins and outs of photography.
