The thread on counterfeits, linked above, is posted in the general forum.

My thread about rehandled Pakistani knives and a thread about kit knives was moved from the general forum.

What's the difference???

I believe these types of threads should be in the general forum but I took flak for complaining when mine was moved - now I see I was right and that the moderator in both instances was wrong.

Unlike these cheap counterfeits - a mistake regarding kits or Pakistani knives costs the consumer hundreds.
I said at the time that the moderator was doing a disservice to the members here.

My threads should be moved back to the general forum immediately. Moreover it would be nice if they were made stickies and an apology issued to the community here for failing to act in their best interest.

Nice requests/demands. You do realize that all the mods receive is the occasional carp and that there is more than one moderator who moves threads?

Was your reputation really hurt by that single act of moving a thread, or did it just ruffle your feathers to the point that you can't spread your tail fan anymore?

Since I didn't see your original thread, I'm not going to comment on why it was moved. Past that, as the previous poster stated, making demands isn't going to earn you a lot of courtesy around here. As for "failing to act in their best interest" don't even get me started.

Keep in mind that moderation on this site is done by several dozen different people. And we don't read every post in every thread. As a result, there will be some inconsistency. That's the nature of the beast.

We generally don't go back and review cases, especially when there was no infraction. That may seem callous, but it's a necessary expedient; we just don't have the time or energy to have a hearing over every case. Besides, having your thread moved isn't exactly the end of the world anyway.

If you don't like that, then I suggest you move to a knife discussion site that pays a full-time staff of professional moderators to expertly-review every post.... but, then again, I'm not aware of any such knife discussion site.

Two threads. What's the difference????

I don't see two threads. I see one thread, and you complaining that your thread was moved. Without the other, I can't compare what's up, and really considering your attitude, and the very accessible rules & FAQ of this site, I'm not especially inclined to worry about things. As Gollnick stated, we don't read every thread here. If you feel yours was unfairly moved, post the link for it and I'll compare the two.

Rehandled Pakistani fetches record $$$.
Originally posted in General Knife Discussion, moved to Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification where we discuss junk knives selling on ebay for high prices, moved again to Bladeforums Service & Support when the topic changed.

Two threads. What's the difference????

It is in this forum or its in that forum... whats the difference? I remember that thread. It was going along pretty well regardless of what forum it was in, staying on topic and everything, until... someone... got their panties in a bunch and derailed it with a bunch of nonsense about being owed an apology and, the latest, requesting stickies.

This thread is a waste of space in S&S. Throw it to the sharks!

As near as I can tell, when a thread is moved to another subforum, a link is left in the old subforum so regardless if the move was the best or not matters not one iota. You still can see the thread in the old forum, as well as a shiny new forum. In fact, a move actually increases exposure as not everyone surfs every subforum everyday.

Moreover it would be nice if you, Averageguy, made an apology to the moderators and posted it as a signature line in all your posts, sort of like a sticky, for not acknowledging the mods are working in the forum's best interest.

I like the way you think. :)

if you arent sure where to put it, JUST ASK A MOD and there will be no question and you wont get your undies all bunched up. maybe you should do what zenheretic said but since you cant put something in your sig line, i would put it here.

I think you should also demand that a bronze statue be erected in your honor. BF owes you at least that much for moving your thread.

Bronze? That is an affront and an insult, the implication being that the OP is at best a third place finisher when clearly he deserves a statue made of priceless unobtanium in recognition of all his noble efforts to ease the plight of we, the downtrodden and manipulated. Mr. Johnson should apologize to the entire community for his metaphorical slap to the face of our would be savior! He has our best interests, and only our interests, in mind throughout all the diatribes.

Be thankful, damnit! :D

Is ya crazy ? :p

If he followed your request, how would averageguy dispose of the truck load of Tampax he has ? :D

Cougar, thanks for the link. I remember that thread now. If the OP can't tell the difference between a thread that is a generalized "things to look for" and a "hey look what's selling on ebay!?!?!" then there isn't much to say.

averageguy seems very concerned with the dessimination of the knowledge he possesses about Pakistani steel.

I suggest that we all listen carefully to what he has to say and then do our best to get this knowledge out there so that justice and fairness will be served.

I'm working on a platform for a webpage, preparing to storyboard a YouTube video, composing several SPAM emails, and copyediting my flyers that I plan to put up all over town.

Seriously, averageguy, if you think people are going to get ripped off and you see evidence of someone having gotten ripped off, start a new thread in GB&U.

That's a good place for such discussion. It gets plenty of traffic.
