whats the first knife you ever owned?......is there a story to tell? coz I wanna hear it.

:D

My first was the LM Wave that came with the maglite. I got it for Christmas last year. My father brought it home from work a day before Christmas, I think someone had given it to him, or recieved it was a prize from a party. He already had one that he doesn't use. So he gave it to me.

The next day I opened my presents with it. To my surprise I find a small POS multi-tool that came from my uncle on the mainland. Never really used it, except as a toy, it was more fun to open than my wave (before I figured out that you could one hand open it).

I later wanted a real folder cuz the wave was getting boring. Up for another multi, another folder, a small fixed(the folder and fixed I might be getting tomorrow!)

Now my Dad's like "Why are you so interested in knives?" and it's his damn falut too-what a bad father, getting youngenz addicted to knives :D

First knife i ever owned? It was a no-brand small bowiestyle fixed blade i got from my grandfather. I always used to be working around the house there, uprooting old trees, clearing and small camping (they had a HUGE amount of land at their farm). I lost it a three years ago when i moved to another city. That hurt :grumpy: I had a lot of fond memories of that knife.

Wow...gotta fire-up some spare memory cells on this one!! It was right at 50 years that I probably acquired my first knife and I've absolutely no idea where or who it came from.
As best I remember, it was a tiny single-bladed folder 1-1/2 to 1-3/4" O.A.L. closed, clip point carbon steel blade and black jigged-bone-wannabe scales of undetermined material. Also, I seem to remember what were probably nickel-plated bolster caps on each end of the handle and a riveted, pivoting loop on the end as an attachment point for a keyring or ???? I may even have it still.....you're going to make me look for that little thing when I get home, aren't you?:D
Thanks for the memories even if it doesn't turn up.:)

Larry S.

My first knife was a genuine two- bladed Barlow that I recieved second hand from my Dad.
I still have the knife though it has been long since retired.
Regards, Zeke

If I don't count the POS folders I had when I was a kid, then my first "real" knife was a Spyderco Endura. Spydercos were all the rage back then in teh early nineties and some people still believe they are. Well they might not be the best anymore, they still are pretty damn good. This was quite a nice starting point. I highly recommend Spydies for first timers.

GC now your learning, be nice, and ask nonconfrontational questions. :) (hey who changed the smiley order?).

First knife I remember was an old SAK type knife my Grandfather gave me when I was back in Europe as a kid, after that a Old Timer 51OT that I carried for many years, I bought it to use for work back in the late 70's, still have the knife, it's a little beat up and now it is retired. :(

A Belknap Hardware brand 4 blade Congress slipjoint (maybe a Camillus??). My dad got it for me for my 10th birthday. Beat the **** out of it -- still have it.

Can't remember my "first" knife. That was much, much too long ago. There was a Buck 112, however, that will always have a special place in my heart. I did everything with that knife, used it, abused it and carried it everywhere.

My first one, was a small cheap POS auto, but the knife that really gets me into the hobby was a Gerber AR that I bought for a friend.

This little thing was so nice that wanted one for my self, but is kind of ugly to get the same thing you are giving. So, I start looking for a nice folder for me, and before I realise I was lost in knifeland :D

====================
Sorry for my english :o

the first knife i got was a silver SAK i got on my 7th or 8th birthday from my father, i had it for around 6 years before i lost it.

Old Timer stockman, won in a scouting event when I was 7. Still have the knife (and a few scars ;) )

Buck 110. Got it around 15 or 16. Carried it for many years. Abused it in the oil fields, cutting metal banding, using it as a hammer, etc. Finally the lock back broke and the blade just flopped back and forth. Kept it that way for quite a while. Then I decided to see if Buck would fix it for me.

So I sent it back to them w/ the explanation that I'd abused it to breaking, but it held sentimental value. They put a new razor sharp blade on it, polished out the hammer marks in the brass bolsters and kept the original wood. All for free!
Yeah, I like Buck customer service.

My first knife which I still have, was a pearl handled two bladed sheffield folder. It was given to me by my great granddad when he decided I had enough maturity to have a knife. That was close to forty years ago. He was a gruff old scot, tight with money and praise. .I would sit and peel bark from twigs or carve shapes in driftwood while he made wooden fans and other pieces. And smoked. Still love the smell of lighter fluid and a cigarette when it is first lit..

My first knife is a Swiss Army Knife but I forgot the model. It was bought for a camping trip.

My first knife was a little no-name lockback my dad gave me when I was about four or five, I loved that knife, and I found it a while back. It sure seemed a lot bigger when I was a kid, now I can barely get two fingers on it.

Wow... let me think...

Back when I was 6/7, I believe, went to a hardware store with my Dad, saw one of those 3-4 inches blade, made in China/India, non-locking folders with unfinished wood slabs. Cost was about $2 (80's). Begged my Dad to buy one for me and when I got home, I borrowed his wood-crafting tools to script on the handles. Was trying to script something like a picture or my name on it. The project turned out to be a failure due to my nice crafting skills. :D But I still loved it a lot, though. Should have kept it. :)

Oh, it's such a long time I can't even remeber clearly. I think it was a POS SS slipjoint, with the handles shaped like a fish (it even had fish scales etched, and the eyes were the holes for the pivot pin).
