What's the first mod you're going to do to your tweeners when they arrive?

wow really why buy it if you have to mod it so hard?

I don't have to mod it. I choose to.

All the mods I listed are pretty minor mods that I have done before on my other Becker knives. Stripping because I like the look of a patina'd blade over tacticool black. Squaring the spine to strike a firesteel. Stainless hardware so I don't have to worry about rusty bolts. Convex edge because I find that easier to keep sharp.

But mostly I mod to make my knife unique. Like many other Becker knife owners, I find pleasure in owning a knife that I have tweaked to fit my own needs and tastes. I could buy it, mod it, and have a knife that I have made my own, or I could not buy it and have nothing.

The pictures may explain it better.

Guess there are a few of us who will lose our BH status. One of the things I LIKE about Beckers is that they're so eminently moddable. Not that they're not pretty much perfect as is, but Zytel doesn't do it for me, and I like stonewashed. Heck, Moose stripped his 16 already. Does that mean he loses his BH status?

yeah, didn't want to mention it, but moose is moving on. he's going to work for ontario :)

Signiture midnight tiger/tiger G-10 scales....I dunno, the Tweeners look to cool to mod, its like throwing a brick at a Lamborghini.

I plan on modding my 17 by adding sap, sweat and critter blood to it. And the way my luck is running lately, possibly some of MY blood lol

[QUOTEConvex sharpy goodness will come before using it.][/QUOTE]

Convex edges arent sharper than regular V edges, they just have better cutting power giving the illusion of a sharper edge :D

I think adding micarta will be awesome. Any word on micarta scales being available for the tweeners?

I would like to hold off on stripping it to see how the new coating is but I need to square the spine so strip and square for me. and a sheath or 3

You guys make your own scales?
Some of us do. Satisfying, but it's a time vampire. It all depends on what you are wanting, I'll say a drill press is helpful. Oh and save your best material till you've got some skills, wish I'd done that. There's a how to around here somewhere showing how I Make them.

Thanks! I'm assuming other people get theirs off ebay.

Maybe sheath mods. No knife mods for me. I like em just as i get em. Grivory & black coating. One of the things that drew me to Beckers is that they are FUNCTIONAL AND BEAUTIFUL, at least IMO. Like the A-10 Thunderbolt. Ugly as a "WartHog" to some, but pure function & beauty to me, & those that fly them.

When I get my 16 I'm gonna add imprints from my hands from over-fondling it when I get it.
