What's The First Thing You Do?

I do many of the things already mentioned. But no matter what it is, a knife, an electronic device, a gadget, or anything, I give it a good smelling. Yeah, I sniff the heck out of that thing because invariably it's an odor I've never smelled. I learned this from my dog.

Jes600...That is so flipping funny! I love the smell of kydex. I have no clue why. It gives me this strange little giggle. I wonder if it's a drug. Maybe I have a problem. Hummm...guess I will check in to some local rehab clinics.

Thank goodness I'm not the only weird one. I pee on mine so that no one else will use them. I too learned this by watching dogs.

The only ritual I have is I open the box with the last knife I got. So the next knife I get will be unpacked with my BK16. It's weird I know.

Thank you for this Guyon. I am just glad I wasn't drinking anything.

I hadn't really noticed that kydex has much of a smell. Maybe I don't spend enough time smelling my knives.

I held my Ruger SP101 .357 magnum revolver in one hand and my Becker BK2 in the other hand (the BK2 is my first real quality knife/ no more gerber baby food knives), and I introduced them to each other. Then since my Ruger already has been given a woman's name I named the BK2.

kinda like this?

LOL

What really gives me a special feeling is holding the BK-5 in one hand and the BK-15 in the other. It's like a backwoods version of katana and wakizashi.

Yeah, like that. Later that first night I let the BK2 sleep next to my Ruger even though they just met. What pistol are you holding? I don't see an external hammer and it does remind me of a Glock I owned years ago though I'm not going to guess.

G22, .40 cal GLOCK

G22, .40 cal GLOCK

The full-size .40 Glock was the model I had with the optional night sights. It is a great reliable handgun and a very effective man-stopper. Actually, I think the police in California used it several years ago in killing an escaped Siberian Tiger from the San Francisco Zoo.

First thing I do is get it out of the box and find something to cut / chop / baton / inflict general mayhem upon.

CasecadeSam...Do you have some sort of theme music playing while you are doing this? ;)

Gingivitiskahn...What was your most recent purchase?

I have got to do that! The BK5 is probably my next knife to purchase. The BK15 is further down the list. I really want to eat a bbq rib dinner with a BK15 in one hand.

You and your new toy can come check in to my BK&T rehab facility where you'll learn to indulge your every Becker urge;)

And they look so much better when you get the coating off and find that nice stonewashed finish they tend to have. I usually play with mine a bit out of the box and do a few cutting tests, then it's off to the stripper bath(that sounds fun:D) for about 2hrs.
..by the way which model did you get??

brewcitymike...Your clinic doens't sound like it would "help" the problem. ;) Oh my...a 2 hour stripper bath? Goodness!!! Sounds rather enjoyable.

My first is the 11. Next girl coming home with me is the 7. I'm in love with that big girl. I keep looking at the others, but she wants me. :D

My First...

1st thing I do is look around and make sure the wife isn't around so I don't get caught with a new knife. I then rip the shipping box to shreads and bury the pieces deep in the trash. Gotta get rid of the evidence. Once the knife is stored away with the pile of others it is safe and she'll never notice the difference. It is a pretty stressful process.
