Whats the knife you bought thinking you would love and then you didn't (High end)

I have a few. I have a busse batac le. Its too heavy and short and it appears to have too much wasted steel in the design. there is a huge chunk of metal between the handle and the blade that could be blade. For the weight i could have a 10 inch blade, for a 5 inch blade its too thick. Its built well but compared to my rc 4 it seems awkward yet not long enough to chop. If I did it again (get a busse) I would get an snfo or some other 8-12 inch blade.

Next is Busse fatty game warden. Great knife but too fat. it was to be my deer knife but the blade is too fat to be a good slicer... I love the orange g 10 handles etc but its sort of a nevelty to have a 3 inch blade that is 1/4 inch thick.

Last is Zero Tolereance 0350. as I stated in another thread. The curved blade is hard to sharpen and the blade opens as soon as its touched, shaken, dropped or put in pocket. I found it sticking out of my pants 2 times while sitting and the blade was all the way through hanging out. This is a very dangerous knife to have. I also cut myself when reaching into my pack once. It needs a sheath and what good is a folder that needs a sheath. Maybe a locking mechanism would help. razor sharp for shure and built well but not for me..

Thinking a Junglas with orange g 10 and maybe a bk7 or bk9 and I'm all knifed up. The rc4 has exceeded all expectations. Sort of wish I got the rc6 though..

Peter Rassenti integral folder with snake-skin damascus. Pricey and nice but just not my cup of tea....too small for my hands and I just didn't like the overall "feel" of it.

cusader forge metro flipper. was built like a tank but fit and finish was not on point with the price point IMO felt like three big slabs of materials screwed together. :(

Small sebenza 21. Nothing wrong with it but just wasn't what I expected. Certainly wasn't as smooth as I had heard it hyped to be. Great fit and finish though, attractive, and quality materials. It just didn't turn out to be for me. Luckily they hold their value well and I didn't take a big hit when I let it go to someone else who wanted to try one.

Didn't actually buy the knife, but most of ZT series was disappointing for me.

very awkward In pockets and most have annoying recurve blade.

Used to be that way but in the last year recurves have actually become the minority in zt blades. They are more diverse now. Lol but I hear you, unless I was camping or something carrying a 0300 series would just be too uncomfortable in my pockets. I have carried an 0560 for about a year though and that thing just disappears.

I really thought the ZT 0560 was going to be the last knife I ever needed/wanted but when I got it I was kind of underwhelmed, it flipped okay but not as amazing as I had hoped and the size was really bigger than I need for edc purposes and sharp corners in the G10 I had to sand down. It has grown on me but I have yet to actually carry it, hopefully the 0566 will be more what I'm looking for.

Ya that is a nice size, I have an older 0350 that somehow keeps finding itself in my rotation because it's size just is more appropriate sometimes. So I'm not thread jacking I will also say I was underwhelmed with a mini grip I got, a lot of little things but just added up to not being for me. On the other hand spyderco knives exceeded my expectations.

ZT 301. Gorgeous knife. Very cool. Carrying it around all day? Sucked. Just too heavy for what it was. Couldn't get over its bulk or weight and sold it.

I bought a ZT 0350 liking the curve of the blade and knowing it would be overbuilt, but the shorter blade made it feel stubby. If a longer knife is overbuilt it sort of evens out, but the 0350 felt like a brick in pocket and in hand.

strider sj75. Cool knife but felt very blah to me and just didn't care for it. Quickly traded it away for a Spyderco techno and southard. Two amazing knives!

Not sure what is meant by "high-end" but in my definition - none. The few high-end knives that I have are all great. But in the mid-range I was really unhappy with my black/camo Spyderco Military. While I like Spyderco quite a lot in general (love the Manix line), the Military was a huge disappointment to me. I still have it, but one day I'm going to trade the thing for something traditional. Maybe... :D

Benchnade Rift. Too long and awkward. I was highly disappointed

Benchmad Mini Griptilian. I'll catch flack, but it felt cheap and unsturdy.

Spyderco Endura. Lock wore out fast, and the cheap plastic handles looked polished after just a couple months.

Benchmade 32. Gorgeous bali song, flipped great and carried well, just didn't feel tough enough as a user for me. I traded my 53 away when i bought it, and kind of regret it now.
