Whats the knife you bought thinking you would love and then you didn't (High end)

Hinderer XM 24. Way bigger/heavier than anticipated. I try to like it and carry it...but I just can't warm up to it. I like the knife and don't really want to trade/sell it, but I haven't figured out quite what to do with it. Dunno...maybe trade for a 4" F3 Curtiss?

Spyderco Domino,Everything looked good on paper but when I got it 'in hand' I was immediately disappointed. It looked fantastic. It flipped great, but it was the blade/handle ratio for me.Bulky handle, small blade.

Small Regular Sebenza,It's too small.I always wished CRK would come out with something in between the large & the small with their integral lock.

I've had customs I was immediately turned off by as soon as I received them for one reason or another, but I'm not going to get into that.

thanks.
have you had any blade play on your delica? thanks again. :)
Just FYI Many FRN/lockback spydercos have a slight amount of blade play esp if you rock it towards the tip, if you get one and it does it is nothing to worry about. Ive owned and used hundreds of spydercos and the only lock I have had fail was a original teeny tiny ladybug I gifted to my gpa of which spyderco took care of. If you use and care for your knife as designed it will last a life-time.

eta-Just got a barely used Lone Wolfe T2 the other day(My first LW), was expecting it to be pretty nice and when I opened it it looked nice. However after a very light test of blade play by hand, nothing serious, the lock unexpectedly gave out and it bit me, screw that knife and any other Lone Wolfe as far as Im concerned. Never have I had such a thing occur with even a china no name.

CRK Umnumzaan

Ergonomics were awful, blade wouldn't hold an edge at all and having to push up on the thumbstuds to open felt awkward and unnatural.

thanks.

I have several Spyderco back-locks, including the Delica and Endura...neither one of them has any blade play, nor do any of the other Spydercos I have for that matter. Rest easy if you buy a Delica, great blade and one of my regular carries.

Benchmade 300 SN flipper, I bought it do to being a first from BM, handle is a little small, and the looks are not growing on me. It's Over $100, so high end for me,lol!!!! I was going to order a Domino(totally dig the Southard, thanks Spdy), but I'll have to handle one first.

Benchmade Mini Barrage. Everything about the knife is perfect except the lousy Valox handles...not grippy and they feel uber-cheap. I put a lanyard on it to get better grip, but it's still not perfect. I'm planning on selling it and getting the m390 version.

Benchmade Mini Hardtail. Most uncomfortable knife I've ever handled. That sharp corner on the butt ruined it for me. Traded it in for a Benchmade 707, much more comfortable knife.

thanks.

i have the delica zdp-189 and there is no way you will "wear out the lock" or the handle on it or the endura. the only way would be if you regularly use it to pry open steel doors and you clean it by spraying it down with a sand blaster every day. The handle on mine still looks new, durable as hell and no blade play what so ever. That other guy must have abused the hell out of his knife because the delica and the endura are known for their durability and quality. The delica is still my favorite knife, light thin and super well made and crazy sharp.

Benchmade 940 Osborne, hands down! Apparently, this is a very popular knife. I don't get it...AT ALL! Ergos are awful (for me) don't like the blade shape, and the knife generally feels "cheap" to me. Actually I didn't even buy the knife, it was given to me. I've never even considered carrying it. Whatever...some folks probably hate the spydercos I carry. To each his own.

Edit: actually I just re-read the title and I didnt answer correctly. The knife I bought "thinking I would love" was the manix 2 LW. It's a nice knife and I don't hate it (like the bm) but yeah, it definitely did not meet my expectations. The knife looked like it had awesome ergos, but just didnt really work in my hand. I like the pm2 a lot better!
