whats the makeup?

I have a few circular saw blades.I emailed simonds saw co. with all the numbers,and was sent back an email stating that he could not tell me the exact chemistry but that it was comparable to 74nicr2 which was 7.5% carbon and 1/2% nickel.Is this good knife steel?

74NiCr2 -- .74 C, .25 Cr, .55 Ni Yes that would make a good knife steel and the Ni would add toughness [though not as much as L-6] for a chopper.
