What's the most bang-for-buck EDC folder?

Id go with the Boker Trance as "best bang for the buck".

For the amount you spend (around $30), you get all of what you described.

Check out Browning's Icestorm.VG-10 blade & it's made by Mcusta....approx.$30-$40

I feel these (and it's variations) are currently one of the best values out there right now.

Grind, steel, clip, ergos, smoothness, price, fit/finish, and out of the box sharpness.

This model has it all. :)

You are right there:thumbup: I got a red one & a gold one(just blue & green left to get;))
F&F is Great!Smooth opening, great lockup & razor sharp out of box, clean even bevels...you can't go wrong with them.

Also anything from the Boker "com" series is a great B4B:thumbup:

I agree, I couldnt be happier with that knife.

There are several that come to mind from Spyderco, but what I currently EDC is the PE Tenacious.

I cannot see one that surpasses it in the "bang fro the buck" award . . .

And auto openers like the 9050 are illegal in a lot of places.

Native III.

Fella, if you gave more details about what you want the knife to do and how much you want to spend you'd get answers that are a lot more specific.

Not necessary - I was more interested in the opinions of experts, and Bladeforums is the place to find them!

You've all given great answers and given me enough great inexpensive choices that I cannot see a reason to buy something pricey when I can get all the daily use I need from what you've presented here.

Thank you all!

I started carrying a CRKT M16 Z cause it was cheap, snagged it on a discount site for 25$ and played around squirting some dry teflon into it, touching it up with a translucent arkansas stone, fiddling and tweaking.. and i fell in love with the ergos. it is a 6th finger.

you can get the military model with better steel for 50$, or a titanium handle for 75$.. but the M16 13Z just rocks for feel, and can be found all over from 25-30$ .. the AUS 4 isn't shabby at all, at least the ones i've had are good heat treat and take a fine edge.

If more edge endurance is desired get the military model, but IMO the mid sized spear point M16 is about ideal EDC. ymmv..

The Spyderco Endura would be worth a look..

Strong, tough, well made, good steel and not super expensive.

TR Graham
The Glocksmith

Spyderco Endura or Delica and all of their variations
Benchmade Griptilians (reg or mini) and all of their variations

Two classic designs that continue to be some of the best value knives in all price ranges.

I agree but its hard to beat a Boker Trance just due to the price. My Tenacious was 40 bucks including shiping. The Trance is like 30 bucks, I dont think there's a knife out there thats better then that for the price.

I like my BM 550 a lot... but my next EDC purchase will be a Spyderco Pacific Salt. H1 steel is sweeeetttt <3

Not to mention the price!

Forget the tanto tip.

moderate price
Spyderco stretch 2
Kershaw JYD2 Ti/SG2
Benchmade Rijjback

medium prices
Spyderco Endura E4 version/G10 Endura or Police 3/
upper Leek models if they grab you. Excellent knives, but can't work in my damaged, arthritic hand. Still, can't argue with quality and varieity
Kershaw Blur SG2 or S30V depending on predicted use
Buck Cabellas S30V or Bass pro CPM154cm model 110's

lower prices are dominated by
Kershaw Storm 2. Everyone should have one, no excuse
Byrd of your choice
Benchmade Pika2 Ti
Buck 110 , regular 420hc version

The Camillus CUDA EDC is still around ~$25. Early ones were USA, later were Taiwan - some of latter are unbranded as they came in at about the same time that Camillus was going under

From memory it's a small, reasonably rugged framelock that may just suit your needs - and you won't be shattered if you lose it

OK, Since my Auto suggestion was not received well... And no exact $$$$ value was mentioned. The Sebenza seemed to be too pricey... and the title of the thread is "Most Bang for the Buck" I am submiting a second entry, and it's the ~Byrd G-10 Cara-Cara~ It fills all the needs of the posted list very well, and for less then $30.00 it is one stout EDC!!!

+1:thumbup: I didn't know they made a G10 Cara-Cara.I had the old one with the kraton handles & sold it.I'll be getting one of these though.:)

nothing can really beat the Tenacious when it comes to biggest bang for the buck award
