All I have are benchmades and Microtechs. I should add a spyderco. Benchmade has the 710 which seems to be the most EDCed by people in the know.

Police? Military? I dunno. I like a big honkin' pocket machete.

i would go for the military... the police is a great knife but the blade reachs 4 inches which may violate some laws in your area

My favourite EDC has long been my Co-Pilot.

I've owned two Enduras, one Delica, one Rescue, and one "Remote Release." However, hands down the most carried Spydie is probably the Endura. Can't miss!

I would think the most EDC'd Spyderco is probably the Delica. I own at least 100 knives, but carry the Delica everyday.

dfcrane,
100 knives!! Wow, I'm just trying to build my collection so I can have a different knife for each day of the month! Kudos to you my friend.

personally I prefer to have the one right perfect blade for every job. I don't need a different blade for everyday.

BM710 is damn near just this side of perfect. Honestly though..... I'm concerned with the omega springs. Busted one in my BM5000. I don't like springs.

The Military has a full flat grind, which makes it a better slicer than the Police. The handle of the Military is also a little more hand-filling. I had both, and now I've just got the Military.

If you're going to get a folder that fills that niche, I'd say get a Benchmade 740. It's fundamentally very similar to the Military, only I find it a little more pleasant to carry & use (see my thread on it...).

the hollow grind on the police is a HUGE factor. not a good feature for me. I do like the SS handle though.

I might do another BM, I'm a BM guy. I just figured I should give Spyderco a chance.

I'm more of a BM guy myself, but the Spyderco Military is my favourite knife - I have all the current versions (S30V, BG42, D2, S90V)

Spyderco's G10 is WAY better than BM's (grippy, light & strong), the knife carries extremely light, the handle is long enough to give you purchase with gloves on, the blade is full flat ground for improved slicing ability... what's not to like?!
if you would like to see some comparison shots with the 710 or 740 just let me know

That would be amazing if you can work it out. Just one shot of the BM's and the D2 mil together would be great.

I'm a BM man myself.

JackBauer24,
Since you are a BM man, the only BM I own is the 520....what a brute! I reserve it for hard-core, heavy duty cutting. What are your thoughts of it?

I would agree the endura, I own over a dozen of em in different configs. Love that knife.

I personally dislike the ergo's of the 710, I have a few milis and I like them WAY more. I like the flat ground blade and the hole and everything. But those are the things that some people dont like.
