What's the most expensive knife

Either a Microtech LCC or the Extrema Ratio fulcrum II D that I'm complaining about lock play with in another thread!!

I'm not sure which was more expensive, I bought the MT in America for about $250 and the Extrema Ratio here in the UK for just over 200 GBP...

In 1980 I bought a 4" droppoint 154 CM fixed blade from a local (Pittsburgh, PA) custom knife maker now long out of business. I paid $100 then!

I still get pleasure and admire the workmanship so I guess the expense was worth it but every so often I wonder "what was I thinking?"

So far I haven't cracked the $2000 mark, but I do have a short list of knives I want that would have me cracking that should the opportunity arise.

$225 for a Tom Krein TK-8. I never thought I'd spend that much for a knife, but in the last year or so I've bought a Microtech and a few Doziers, and I've come to the conclusion that these things are expensive for a reason: they're worth it . :)

$400.00 from KnifeArt.com for a limited edition/numbered Mnandi with Giraffe Bone inlay. ;)

$130, Camillus CUDA Maxx. i'd like to buy some higher-end or custom knives, but everytime i happen upon a decent chunk of money, it goes into my music equipment.

abe m.

~$1000 for a used Busse 1 off Custom that is essentially the prototype of the Feherman Extreme Judgement (same designer). A bit nicer and more $$$ than the EJ (INFI to boot), but still getting used. No safe queen here.

What were those knives?

In my safe.

Any pics?

Yes, but not on my site at this time. I did exhibit the $3500 one at the Oregon show last year. There may be some pics up from that.

I don't remember how much my set of four Benchmade Final Edition Custom Bali-Songs with custom-designed handles were, I think about $2500; those knives were a steal!

I just took delivery on one custom that, if I added up everything, would probably be about $2750 (I bought the steel separately, several artists were involved and got paid separately, etc., and I haven't bothered to total it up.).

And I've got a little knife project in the works right now that will total about $13,000. That clearly transcends the mearly functional knife and becomes art. functional object becomes sculptural art. This project has been in the works for four years now and probably has a year to run. Once complete, it will clearly become the piece de resistance on my collection... possibly of the balisong world.

I don't have a good pic of the knife yet, but if you have Febuary's issue of Blade, it is the Best Fighter from Blade West.

Here is the only pic I really have right now. I found this pic online from someone's trip report from Blade West. You can see a watermark, but I'm not sure who to credit for the pic.

It is the one on the left that is outside the case.

$13,000?!??? I see you're a musical director. I work for a music publisher. Guess I oughta go digging around in the morgue for original manuscripts. LOL Gershwin perhaps?
