What's the most versatile slippie out there?

Old school slippies only though, no SAKs. We all know how good those can be. Think pre-SAK, what would you say is the best all purpose slippie made?

My vote is for the stockman. It's become a mainstay in my EDC rotation.

What do you guys think?

Stockman followed by Tony Bose's wharncliffe trapper pattern.

Okay, no sak's Not even one of those Victorian era Sheffield beautys of s-k's?

I'd have to go with the stockman.

Three very different shaped and profiled blades. That packs alot of use into a small package. When I was carrying my old 301 buck stockman, I did things like cut up new carpet to fit in my '66 VW bug, opened V-8 juice cans on campouts, used it as a trout and bird knife, and alot of other stuff.

Stockman again. I even keep a shallow, coarser edge on the sheepsfoot for heavier cutting om my edc.

Swiss Army Knives have been around over 100 years. How can they not be considered "old school"?

I really enjoy how the sowbelly feels in the hand. I appreciate how the blade kinda reaches in where I'm going like an extension of my thoughts. Getting in there an doing what I want so easily. Sowbelly's have my vote for an all purpose knife.

I knew I'd get called out about that, poor choice of words on my part. :) I guess my point is that SAKs are a completely obvious choice for versatility. Too many options there. Should have been more descriptive, but kind of figured that you guys would get the spirit of my post.

How about the most versatile knife other than a SAK?

Nukemb, nice call on the Sowbelly. Pretty much a stockman too. Same three blades but different shape on the handle right?

I'd have to say Congress since it has 4 different blades. I'd also say Scout but it's too close to a SAK.

It's one of those hate 'em or love 'em deals. I'm carrying pretty regular in my back pocket a Bulldog sowbelly with some mighty fine stag. I cannot get enough of how that blade kinda anticipates what I want when cutting. The blade just leads the way on what I'm doing.

A 4 blade stockman with a punch.

But they are rare these days. I have one I really like

Not always three blades:

The sowbelly is one pattern that isn't in my collection. I'm going to have to pick one of those up. Nice pics and a beautiful knife, Nukemb!

Growing up in England, it was the 'Camper' that had two pen blades and a bottle and can opener.
And it was not a swiss army knife.
They came later.

For me the Slim-line Trapper has to be in there, as I like the long blade and light weight.

This is tough  So many good patterns out there.

Trapper gets my vote. Two nice, long blades (I'm usually left wishing for a longer blade when I use one of the shorter ones on a stockman): one to use for general utility purposes, and one to keep like a pocket razor. :p

That is certainly a beauty. If you need some wear naturally applied, just send it this way! ;)
