enkido> yah, no handguns up here, other than .22 pretty much(and thats only targets)... I've been shooting for a long time.

J-Man> wear a good belt. I'll bet my pants weigh about 5-10lbs when I have all my stuff in the pockets. I have a nylon webbing belt, 1/8" thick and around 1.5" wide(have 3 of them from Air Cadets). Pants don't slide at all.

VampyreWolf, it is possible to get a real handgun legally in Canada. The prices are jacked up skyhigh, but if you are willing to go through a year of hell and every detail of life gone through with a fine tooth comb it is possible. No hollow ammo, barrell has to be adleast 4 1/4", can't discharge .25 or .32 cal unless it's used by the international shooting union, 10 round mag limit, ATT permit to take to and from different areas, must be locked up etc. Good luck on getting a Concealed permit (it may be possible to get a open carry permit if you need it for a security or money transfering job or need to protect yourself and others from wild animals)... unless your really tight with a liberal MP. I think the law against push-daggers is lossely enforced, my local tackle & hunting shop sells some Browning pushdaggers (mainly hunting style like blades like a clip point or a ulu style (which is legal), but a few dagger styles as well), I've seen numerous LEO's taken a look, no problems, keep in mind that the O.P.P HQ is in my town and there is alot of cops around.

It's terrifying to think that there are those who say that the U.S. should be made in the image of that model. I can't imagine living under such a yoke of governmental/bureaucratic nonsense, intrusion, imposition, oppression and denial. That is just outta hand! I would feel like I was living in an occupied country.

J-man> yes, it's possible to get a handgun up here legally to train and carry. It's just too much hassle to be worth it. .22 is nice for targets, played with that a lot... local range lets you rent a lane and pistol for about $50, but you pay for ammo and targets... played with a glock in .45 a couple times. Best fun was a double action revolver in a 30 something(that was about 4yrs ago though).

as long as you have the hunter's safety course, they'll let you fire any of the guns at the local range... 50yards at full range and a nice solid backstop. Quite normal to see (off duty) cops in there with duty weapons, in the lane right beside you. Could always ask one of them(or one of the ones I know) to help get a CCW[and my clear record helps nicely] other than a load of paperwork.

Gun laws are bad enough here in Canada, we even have the compound bow in the gun safe. I can hit the target at 80yrds, though 50yrds is my max so far for bullseye. 33" draw, 80lbs peak, 60% letoff... so when the pulleys kick in, I'm only holding 32lbs... quite easy. Broadheads are sharpened by hand(and I know how sharp my knives are), 2nd quiver(attaches to bow, 8 arrows) has field points.

Pushdaggers are the least of thier concern, can do more with a 4" fixed than a 2" push.
