Like the title says I'm just curious to find out how and why we chose our respective forum names. My forum name is in honor of the late great John Coltrane AKA "Trane". He was and is the greatest jazz saxophonist who ever blew a note. His music speaks to me like no other and there is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to it. Below is a pic of Trane and a link to his official web site.

I want to school at San Diego State, somehow the "J" on my first name got ommited from the roll. The history prof asked for "Ames Segura" and I told him my name was James. He repeated the name like he had never heard it before, so I said "James, as in Saint James, the man this school was named for." It was St. James from then on.

jmx was my sales person code at Pacific Stereo a LONG time ago. I also used to ride Honda Intercepters. In a fit of frustration when trying to come up with a user name on AOL, again a long time ago, I came up with jmxcpter . I used to use it every where as it was always a sure bet to be not taken. I used it long enough that my wife has actually referred to me as jmx.

I switched to Excitable Boy for my online moniker several years ago and that's what I'm known as everywhere on the net these days, except for Blade Forums. This is the last place where jmxcpter exists.

One day soon I'll probably pay Spark the name change fee and be Excitable Boy here too.

It's my middle and last name.

I used to be extremefishin00 on here. I used to work on a charter boat, and some days the weather would really kick out butts. I would say that we were going out on an extreme fishing trip. I kinda liked the way it sounded, and used that for all of my online names. Then, once I graduated college, I decided it was time for something different, and went with my real name.

One of my favorite submission holds in mixed martial arts, originally from judo. The flying version is especially swank.

Well, I thought that on a knife forum, I should make it known that I am a minor. Especially in the Knife Exchange. :)

This name works well, though I will have to come up with a new one in few years...

I used my real name cause all the cool ones were taken. :(

I figured it would be too hard to get people believe me when I tried to tell 'em my real name instead of an internet handle.

My mom picked it out when I was born and I pretty much won't answer to nothing else.

I can't spell anything else.

It's what my mail say's so if it's good enough for the federal goverment it's good enough for you guys.

The pets have all the good names.

Damn, and here I was thinking it was an acronym for some particularly bizarre form of deviant sexual practice!

;)

Well, how's that for a coincidence, my wife has Hungarian ancestry. :)

I was researching Hitachi Metal's steel ZDP-189 on one forum and the name kinda carried over onto all the other knife fora.

I used to have a couple very large lizards... 4.5 ft iguanas, and having lizards the standard joke in the Navy Reserve was "you want to pet my lizard" and when someone came and threatened sexual harrasment I was able to explain that I was being literal and not figurative.. hence the name

When I first started getting on the net I decided to get a yahoo email address. I kept trying everything I could think of, but everything was taken. I had the Discovery channel on TV at the same time. They were showing a documentory on bats. There was a part about Fruitbats on and since I couldn't think of anything else I tried it. I had to add a couple number to the end but it worked. I've been "Fruitbat" ever since.

I really like dogs... :) And, of course everybody's heard the term 'Man's Best Friend' I'm just returning the affection. :D And hopefully, some of the loyalty.

I tried to pick up a girl years ago in a club and she called me a Zooblast:confused:
