What's the perfect concealment Fixed Blade

to be a great concealment fixed blade requires a great knife AND a great sheath, for me bud nealy makes the stuff that conceals best, carries the best, and is a lot of knife also, i like his MASS system, his MCS system doesnt fit my needs very well, but the MASS really works well, i like the amoeba the best, its abbreviated handle makes it carry better than any other FB i have tried, the pesh kebz is also a good one, my 5" M2 pesh kebz carries better than many 3" or 4" blades i have tried, al polkawski also makes some good knife/sheath combos, one of which i have, the companion, its also a good one, for cheaper stuff the MOD razorback is a good one too, it too carries very well, for the lowest amount of $$/best FB & sheath get a CRKT companion, and then get a custom kydex sheath for it (rather than 1 decent sheath CRKT supplies 2 crappy ones lol) and for about $50 ya have a very good, very concealable FB.

personally, i rarely pack a FB, always a folder though, but since i also usually pack a kahr PM9 i just dont feel i usually need the added aggravation of having to deal with a FB too, and it is more hassle to carry a FB vs a folder, the folder is virtually no hassle at all while a FB is always gonna be kind of a PITA to deal with on a edc basis, no matter how good the sheath/knife combo is designed, a poorly designed one will drive ya nutz and make ya quit packing it.

but i do occasionally carry one, usually in the winter months, or in the summer when biking when i usually dont pack a PM9.

As usual, a very wide variety of opinions. That's part of what makes this forum so great. SIFU1A, I carried a folder for years but moved to a small FB about 6 months ago. I sometimes grab a folder if I'm gone for most of the day but still keep the FB. I always knew I had a folder in my pocket because I could feel it but I rarely notice I'm even wearing the FB. It all depends on the knife size and the sheath design. My post is #5 if you are the least bit interested in another approach. We're all different or this forum would be boring as hell.

Camillus CQB-1 is an AWESOME fighter. It's big(around 10-1/2) but conceals easily, with the tech lok and a longer shirt or coat. You can also use the I.W.B. loop and completly conceal it with just a t-shirt. Or you could just get the CQB Jr. All the same features, just way smaller. I also like Polkwoski knives. They are perfect for what you're looking for, Just maybe most are out of your price range. I think a few aren't though. Same with Doziers. An Ontario RAT-3 in D2 would be a great choice. A SOG seal pup with a custom Kydex sheath designed for horizontal
small of back draw, like I got is Awesome too.

You have a GIANT amount of choices for the knives. But to conceal properly the sheath is the most important thing. Pick any knife you like and if the sheath isn't up to par have one of the On scene tactical guys make you a real one. That way you can get whatever knife your heart desires and a way better sheath to go with it. Saves alot of money that way.

A good concealment system is a properly balanced knife, in a high riding sheath on the belt. The sheath doesn't hang low and if any part of the sheath is visible, it makes the knife appear to be small and stubby. The only drawback with these are access. It can be abit awkward in the draw.

For a tad bit more than your current budget ya could get a Ken Grock "Street Weasel '" with or without sharpened false edge , great knife , great guy , excellent sheaths . Ken really understands the small shank .

Hey Guys...

Hilltopper...

Welcome to BF.com..

First off,, how do you plan to conceal ??

If you are wanting to do IWB,, the Temp is a little on the large side handle wise, as well both sheaths aren't really made to carry IWB as they come with a tek lok, which isn't meant to pull that type of duty..

You would need some other method, IWB loop, G-clip, static line..

If you are wanting something for IWB,, you'll want a flat as possible handle and keep the blade length under 6", however there will be people who argue that..

The Perrin in my opinion is a little better IWB, however the sheath still needs some work...

Deadmarsh...

The Dozier sheath's belt loop pulled off it's sheath ??

Bob fixes his belt loops with eyelets...

Not sure if he still does it,, but I've replaced alot of them like that...

BTW..

Thanks for the mention guys..

The knife and sheath is a system, with the sheath being most important when you are thinking concealment. It needs to be low profile, snug to the body, and smooth everywhere (sharp edges hurt, abraid, and print). The size and shape of the knife is much less important, 'cause with a proper sheath and placement on the body, you'd be shocked at what can be concealed. I routinely conceal a Bagwell Hell's Belle in shorts and t-shirt, and can move, reach, sit naturally without it being seen. Some of you here have seen me do this.

Make sure you check your local laws, too. In a lot of places carrying a fixed blade is illegal regardless of length.

Hey GUys...

Mike... Is speaking the thruth..
I've seen it myself...

That is a big blade to be concealed...

I'm a little heavier set,,so I don't think I could pull it off quite as easily as Mike unless I wear a very large shirt...

The sheath is the concealment system...

M Sastre's Perrin rig is superb for concealed carry in a fixed blade.

I've got several of his sheath systems, some of them for my Bagwells and other large straights in the same length he wears often.

The sheath systems he makes can quite easily conceal about any fixed blade you'll choose.

For an easily carry-able EDC concealment knife I would go with the CRKT Polkowski/Kasper Companion. I personally think this knife design is one of the best ever done for concealed carry. Superb blade shape with a handle design that feels so right in the hand. The CRKT version comes in a complete set with dual sheaths, para chord and ball chain for about $40.00.

I carry mine fairly often and it is easily concealable and comfortable. I use one of the factory sheaths set up for IWB on the left side. For a right handed cross draw. It`s very fast out of the sheath for a draw cut.

For the money you would be hard pressed to find a better fixed blade for concealed carry.
